The theme of the event was "Practice and Innovation of Carbon Footprint Standards and Evaluation Systems", based on serving the implementation of the national dual-carbon strategy, focusing on advanced practices of dairy supply chain management, and exploring how carbon-related standards and evaluation systems can empower enterprises to identify low-carbon management Weak links, promote the industrial chain to carry out targeted response actions, and build a green, low-carbon and high-quality development pattern of the industry.

Shi Licheng, Party Secretary and Director of the Science, Technology and Industrial Information Bureau of Pinggu District, Beijing City, pointed out in his welcome speech that the dairy industry, as an important part of agriculture, is not only directly related to food green safety and public physical and mental health, but also to a large extent related to ecological protection and climate change. Establishing a sound carbon footprint standard and evaluation system is a key measure to promote the low-carbon transformation of the dairy industry. The formulation of carbon footprint standards and the application of evaluation systems can help companies more accurately identify carbon emission sources in production and formulate more scientific and accurate emission reduction plans, thereby promoting the overall green transformation of the supply chain. Shi Licheng introduced that Beijing Pinggu, as the core area of Agricultural Zhongguancun and the Beijing synthetic biological manufacturing industry base, is focusing on creating a new direction for the development of the dairy industry, which will provide comprehensive support for the dairy industry and its supply chain to implement low-carbon development and green innovation.
During the keynote speech session, Wang Mingli, a researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, introduced the calculation method of animal husbandry carbon emissions around "Emission reduction potential and path selection of animal husbandry carbon emissions." This plan uses the latest IPCC parameters and calculates the carbon emission intensity of different livestock and poultry based on the entire industry chain. Wang Mingli also demonstrated the Agricultural Industry Model (CASM) developed by China Academy of Agricultural Sciences to analyze the carbon emissions of livestock and poultry breeding under benchmark scenarios, ration optimization models, combination of planting and breeding models and comprehensive models, and proposed feasible emission reduction paths such as optimizing livestock and poultry rations, improving the forage industry, and promoting the integration of planting and breeding provide strategic directions for animal husbandry to peak carbon emissions.
Dong Lifeng, associate researcher at the Feed Institute of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, proposed technical specifications for low-carbon evaluation around the "construction of low-carbon pasture evaluation system." The evaluation system covers carbon emission reductions from feed production to dairy farming, and how to optimize the carbon footprint through refined management and digital monitoring, including primary, secondary and tertiary indicators, and is based on the management system, carbon emission reduction and carbon offset actions, emission reduction performance, and product scoring criteria are clarified. Based on the score, the low-carbon degree of the ranch can be divided into five levels, which respectively reflect its carbon emission management level and actual emission reduction effect.
Dai Hancheng, director of the Department of Environmental Management at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Peking University, introduced "Efficiency gains in the agricultural and food system help China achieve its carbon neutrality goal." Discussions focused on "large systems talk about carbon neutrality" and pointed out the changes in the global carbon emission pattern, emphasizing key measures for carbon neutrality from a macro perspective, as well as the carbon reduction prospects of animal husbandry and its balance with development. Wang Wei, director of the Dairy Branch of Beijing Jingwa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center, introduced in detail the "Low-Carbon Development Strategy for the Dairy Industry and its Supply Chain" and analyzed the sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the dairy supply chain, especially the intestinal fermentation of dairy cows. Methane emissions. Wang Wei proposed that the dairy industry can significantly reduce emissions and optimize supply chain carbon footprint management through technical means such as low-protein diets, biogas power generation and digital carbon management platforms. He also shared the successful practice of the Jingwa Center in low-carbon development and demonstrated the path to promote green development of the dairy industry through international cooperation and technological innovation.
Liu Lu, Assistant General Manager of the Certification and Evaluation Center of China Inspection and Testing Holding Group Co., Ltd., Director of the External Relations Department, and General Manager of Chengdu Branch, introduced the "Industrial Technology Basic Public Service Platform" project with the theme of "Introduction to Practical Carbon Footprint Tools for the Dairy Industry". The platform was initiated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and built by China Inspection and Testing Holding Group. It aims to provide support to multiple industries and promote the realization of the dual carbon goal through information technology. The platform builds a life cycle tool and a carbon emission calculator to improve the database through artificial intelligence and improve data accuracy to serve the carbon emission management needs of governments, enterprises and environmental protection organizations.
Li Yuan, Director of Sustainable Development of Mengniu Group, shared the company's "Sustainable Practices from Ranch to Dairy Factory" and demonstrated Mengniu Group's successful experience in green production and supply chain management through the "GREEN Strategy". The strategy meets consumer needs through full life cycle management and has achieved many achievements in green production, including multiple factories receiving green factory certification and carbon neutrality certification. In addition, Mengniu promotes energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection throughout the industry chain through measures such as digital factories, water-saving policies, green packaging and procurement. At the same time, Mengniu is committed to sustainable agriculture and biodiversity protection, actively participates in rural revitalization and public welfare undertakings, and creates a responsible industrial ecosystem.
Finally, Xie Wei, vice president of the Institute of New Rural Development at Peking University and a researcher at the School of Modern Agriculture, took the theme of "Construction of Technical General Rules for Carbon Footprint Evaluation of Dairy Products" and explained the standards and technical guidelines for carbon footprint assessment of the dairy industry, covering products from life cycle division, functional unit definition, data collection, carbon emission calculation and result disclosure. He emphasized that this general technical rule provides comprehensive technical support for the low-carbon transformation of the dairy industry, helps companies accurately assess and manage their carbon emissions, and integrates with international standards to promote the green and sustainable development of the industry.
This side event also set up two round-table dialogue sessions, inviting industry experts to discuss "Pain Points and Action Suggestions in the Sustainable Transformation of the Dairy Industry" and "Application Prospects of Dairy Carbon Footprint Standards and Low-Carbon Evaluation System" respectively.

However, although some companies have made progress in energy conservation and emission reduction, many private companies still face the problems of high costs and insufficient technology investment, such as achieving economies of scale and energy transformation in logistics and warehousing. On the consumer side, the roundtable mentioned that low-carbon products are currently difficult to identify and have high prices, resulting in insufficient consumer demand and further hindering the marketization of low-carbon products. The carbon emission accounting and emission reduction plans at the ranch end are still not uniform enough, and standards and tools need to be improved urgently, which affects the assessment of emission reduction effects and the certainty of returns on the ranch. Guests called for further enhancing the operability and market competitiveness of the dairy industry's low-carbon transformation by improving industry standards, promoting ESG information disclosure, and strengthening the promotion of green logos.
