On September 27, the batch construction of Hualong No. 1, the "national business card", received another good news. Unit 4 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Phase II Project of China Nuclear Power Investment Holdings, a subsidiary of China Nuclear Power Corporation, poured the first tank of concrete on the nuclear island. At this point, the construction of the second phase of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Project has been fully launched.
Hualong-1 is my country's third-generation nuclear power technology with complete independent intellectual property rights. It meets the highest safety standards in the world. It is a major landmark achievement of my country's nuclear power innovation and development. It is known as the country's important weapon and "national business card". It is important for my country to realize its transformation from a nuclear power country. The historic leap forward to a nuclear power power is of great significance. At present, Hualong-1 has become the third-generation nuclear power technology with the largest number of units in operation and construction in the world, marking that China's nuclear power technology and comprehensive competitiveness rank first in the world.
It is understood that each nuclear power unit of Hualong-1 generates more than 10 billion kilowatt-hours per year, which can meet the annual production and domestic electricity needs of 1 million people in moderately developed countries; at the same time, it is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by 3.12 million tons and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 8.16 million tons, equivalent to afforestation of more than 70 million trees.
Zhangzhou Nuclear Power is the starting point for the batch construction of Hualong-1. So far, 4 units have started construction, and safety and quality are in a good state of control. Unit 1 is expected to be put into operation for power generation in 2024; Unit 2 is comprehensively promoting relevant work before cold test; Unit 3 started construction on February 22 this year, and the preliminary work of Units 5 and 6 is progressing in an orderly manner.
Zhangzhou Energy is located in Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is responsible for the development, construction and operation of clean energy projects such as Zhangzhou Nuclear Power and Yunxiao Pumped Storage. It is committed to building China large-scale clean energy base in Fujian Province. After the completion of the base, the annual power generation is expected to reach 63.5 billion kilowatt hours, which will become a new development engine for Fujian Province to achieve the "double carbon" goal.
