The 13th Jiangsu (Shengze) Textile Expo and 2024 Suzhou Bay Fashion Week recently opened. At the expo, Shengze Town of Suzhou City and China Textile Industry Federation officially launched the pilot action of the carbon footprint management system for the textile and garment industry. Shengze Town has become the first industrial cluster in the textile and garment industry to carry out a carbon footprint management system on a pilot basis.
At the launching ceremony, Li Ming, Secretary of the Wujiang District Party Committee, said that Shengze, as a famous silk textile town with a long history, has been promoting new technologies, new equipment and new models in recent years. The industry is rapidly moving towards high-end, intelligent and green directions. The launch of this carbon footprint management system pilot is an important milestone in the development of Shengze's textile industry in a green and sustainable direction.

The launch of this carbon footprint management system pilot will not only help promote the high-end upgrading of the traditional textile industry, but will also enhance the global competitiveness and sustainable development capabilities of the textile industry through the organic integration of technology, fashion and green.
In June 2024, 15 departments including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "Implementation Plan on Establishing a Carbon Footprint Management System" to encourage qualified regions, industries and enterprises to take the lead in carrying out carbon footprint pilot work for key products and actively promote it.
The textile industry is an important part of the economy. Carbon footprint management helps green economic transformation, efficient use of resources, improve environmental benefits, and achieve decoupling and decoupling between economy and growth. To this end, in July 2024, China Textile Industry Federation officially launched the standard customization of the "Carbon Footprint Management System for the Textile and Garment Industry", which aims to provide enterprises with a systematic and scientific carbon footprint assessment and management methods, and help enterprises Comprehensively understand and control carbon emissions in their production process, promote the application of green and low-carbon technologies, and achieve green transformation and high-quality development of the industry.
The relevant person in charge of the Social Responsibility Office of China Textile Industry Federation said that the pilot will support Shengze Textile Enterprises to not only establish a green pioneer brand image by implementing carbon footprint management and win the trust of consumers, but also master leading carbon footprint management technology in the industry to enhance competitiveness. At the same time, through systematic carbon footprint management, companies can identify and reduce high-carbon emission links, reduce operating costs, and achieve economic benefits.
