XiJinpingThe general secretary pointed out: "Protecting the ecological environment of the Yangtze River Basin is a prerequisite for promoting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and an inevitable requirement for protecting the cradle of Chinese civilization."
The Yangtze River is surging thousands of miles long. The trickle of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau flows out of the mountains and Nawangchuan, and gathers into rolling rivers, creating beautiful scenery, irrigating fertile fields, nourishing cities and villages, nurturing Chinese civilization, and providing solid support for the sustainable development of the Chinese nation.
In recent years, based on the integrity of the ecosystem and the systematicness of the Yangtze River Basin, all regions and departments have adhered to the comprehensive management, systematic management, and source management of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grass and sand, and jointly focused on large-scale protection without engaging in large-scale development, and explored an ecological priority. New path to green development, the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has undergone a turning point, promoting the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

The shore is green and beautiful, and the aquatic ecological environment continues to recover. The water is clear and smooth. The water quality evaluation of the main and tributaries of the Yangtze River in 2023 is generally excellent, with Class I to III water quality sections accounting for 98.5%. All 2441 shoreline utilization projects suspected of violating laws and regulations on the main stream of the Yangtze River have been rectified, with a total of 162 kilometers of shoreline vacated. Fish Xiang shallow bottom. In 2023, 227 species of indigenous fish were monitored in the Yangtze River Basin, an increase of 34 species from 2022. The "Ten-Year Fishing Ban" action in the Yangtze River has had a significant effect on restoring aquatic biodiversity. Water conservation is given priority, and the water consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP in the Yangtze River Basin has dropped from 70.0 cubic meters in 2017 to 49.1 cubic meters in 2022.
Green transformation, high-quality development momentum is surging. The golden waterway is smooth and low-carbon. In the first seven months of this year, the cargo throughput of the Yangtze River trunk port exceeded 2.2 billion tons, with pure electric cruise ships shuttling back and forth and green ports dotted it. The "green engine" is even stronger. Six reservoirs in Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges and Gezhouba are jointly dispatched. One drop of Yangtze River water generates six electricity. The total installed capacity of the world's largest clean energy corridor reaches 71.695 million kilowatts. Innovation leads green development, modern industrial clusters are growing rapidly, and new driving forces and new advantages are actively shaping development.
Under the guidance of new development concepts, large-scale protection is writing a new chapter in the ancient Yangtze River. Draw a blueprint to the end, one crop after another, so that the mother river of the Chinese nation will remain vibrant forever.
