Hainan: Life "pursues green", production "strives to strengthen green"

Green travel is a trend

Lin Xiaohua said,"The car's big screen will remind me how much carbon emissions have been reduced compared to oil trucks for each trip, making me feel that I am actually doing my part to protect the environment."

As Hainan's penetration rate, ownership, and ratio of charging piles to vehicles rank among the top provinces in China, green travel has become a common practice in Hainan. From January to August this year, Hainan promoted a total of 71,300 new energy vehicles, accounting for 54.6% of newly registered vehicles. That is to say, for every 100 cars sold in Hainan, 54 are new energy vehicles.

Ray Minjares, director of the Heavy Vehicle Project of the International Clean Transportation Council, said that at least two-thirds of the world's automobile market is actively increasing the penetration of new energy vehicles and striving to achieve the goal of accounting for 50% of market sales by 2035. Hainan This target has long been achieved, and a convenient charging infrastructure network has been built across the island. It is one of the "global leaders in zero-emission automobiles."

At the 2024 World New Energy Vehicle Conference held recently, Hainan Province released a pilot construction plan for the application of "vehicle-road-cloud integration" of intelligent networked vehicles, proposing to build China's "vehicle-road-cloud integration" demonstration province with the longest mileage, the richest scenes, and tropical island characteristics.

Clean energy becomes mainstream

To truly achieve "zero emissions" for new energy vehicles, they also need power from clean energy. By promoting the construction of a "clean energy island", Hainan's energy structure has undergone earth-shaking changes. As of the end of June 2024, the proportion of clean energy installed capacity in Hainan's province's on-grid electricity has reached 82.4%, ranking among the top in the country.

Among the clean energy sources for power generation in Hainan, wind power has increasingly become an important part. Hainan plans to build 11 offshore wind farms in coastal cities and counties such as Lingao, Danzhou, and Dongfang during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, with a construction scale of 12.3 million kilowatts. Currently, many offshore wind farms are in the batch installation stage.

The large-scale development of offshore wind power has given rise to the emergence of "Hainan Made" wind power generation equipment from scratch and from small to strong. The wind power manufacturing bases in Yangpu and Dongfang are now "fully fired", with 10-megawatt mainframes and ultra-long and ultra-large wind power blades rolling off the production line.

The 143-meter-long wind power blade developed by the Hainan Dongfang Intelligent Manufacturing Base of Mingyang Smart Energy Group Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as "Mingyang Group") is mounted on the MySE18.X-20MW wind power host, constituting the current world's largest single unit capacity, The offshore wind turbine with the largest diameter of the wind turbine. The first installation test was carried out at Jinpai Port in Lingao County at the end of August this year.

This offshore wind turbine, which has three "world's most" rankings, has an impeller diameter of 292 meters and a maximum sweeping area of 66966 square meters, equivalent to the size of 9 football fields. Shortly after hoisting, it encountered a super typhoon "Capricorn". The crew was safe and sound under the support of active anti-typhoon technology, and the test performed well.

Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone achieves a complete set of regional carbon reduction layout

The Boao Near Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "Boao Demonstration Zone") located on Dongyu Island in Qionghai has recently obtained China's first "Zero-carbon operation Area Certification" issued by the German Energy Agency, and has been included in China's Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Typical urban renewal cases and typical energy green and low-carbon transformation cases of the National Energy Administration have been recognized by many parties to have achieved near-zero carbon operation.

The so-called "near-zero carbon" refers to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to a level close to zero by adopting efficient energy management and renewable energy technologies to achieve environmental sustainable development goals. The Boao Demonstration Zone has built a complete set of regional carbon reduction layout through innovations in various aspects such as renewable energy, green building renovation, and green transportation upgrading.

In the Boao Demonstration Zone, the green renovation of buildings covers the Boao Forum for Asia International Conference Center and Hotels, Dongyu Island Hotel and News Center, etc., with a total area of 163,000 square meters. By introducing a number of key technologies such as DC mutual aid, light storage, direct and flexible technology and improvement of the performance of the envelope, the demonstration area has effectively promoted the low-carbon transformation of buildings.

Transportation is also an important carrying point for near-zero carbon technology in the demonstration area. Zhang Wenbo, technical director of the transportation green renovation project in the Boao Demonstration Zone and associate professor at the School of Transportation of Southeast University, introduced that the demonstration zone has adopted advanced technologies such as flexible charging systems for electric vehicles, driverless driving, and vehicle-road collaboration, making it an important test site for innovative technologies for green transportation in China.
