Recently, the country has stepped up a new round of trade-in of consumer goods and provided higher subsidy standards to greener and energy-saving products. Consumers who purchase refrigerators, washing machines and other home appliances with level 1 energy efficiency and water efficiency standards will be given a subsidy of 20% of the final sales price; when purchasing products with level 2 energy efficiency and water efficiency standards, they will be given a subsidy of 15% of the final sales price; when scrapping old cars, the subsidy will be increased to 20,000 yuan after purchasing new energy vehicles.
The latest measures effectively unleash market potential. In Hubei, which was the first to implement new subsidy standards, more than 110,000 energy-efficient home appliances above Grade II have been sold since August 10, driving sales of 635 million yuan.
The hot sales of energy-saving products have accelerated iterative upgrades at the production end. In Qingdao, Shandong Province, a newly developed first-class energy-efficient refrigerator is stepping up production. Because some parts and components are made of renewable and environmentally friendly materials, each refrigerator can reduce carbon emissions by approximately 0.37 tons per year. Driven by the trade-in policy, sales orders for this category have increased by 40% recently.
Green consumption expands and improves quality, and continues to stimulate market vitality. The latest data shows that from January to July, the retail sales of energy-efficient home appliances in units above designated size grew by nearly double digits, and sales of green building materials, green packaging and other products increased significantly. In July, retail sales of new energy vehicles increased by 36.9% year-on-year, and the market penetration rate exceeded 50%.
