In June 2024, China Environment News launched a "Little Ecological Environment Journalist" training activity in some primary and secondary schools in Shunyi District, Beijing City. Experts in the fields of ecological environment, news publicity and other fields are invited to give lectures on site. After participating in the training, students will pick and write news works by themselves to participate in the selection. As of August 31, a total of 38 submitted works have been received, and 14 outstanding works have been selected.
The following are some excellent works.
Taoran Pavilion, a unique touch of green in Beijing
Wang ze
Taoranting Park was built in 1952. It is a famous historical and cultural park that combines classical architecture and modern gardening art. It is not only a boutique park in Beijing City, but also a national 4A-level scenic spot. The park covers an area of 56.56 hectares, of which the water area is 16.5 hectares.
Taoran Pavilion is a famous pavilion in the Qing Dynasty and one of the four famous pavilions in China. In the 34th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Jiang Zao, a doctor from the Ministry of Industry, who was then supervising the kiln factory, created this pavilion in Compi Nunnery. He took the poem of Bai Juyi, a poet of the Tang Dynasty,"Wait until the chrysanthemum and Huang family are cooked, and we are drunk and Tao Ran together" to write the pavilion's forehead ".
Walking into Taoranting Park, you will find lush trees scattered and green lawns endless. The lake is crystal clear to the bottom, and the breeze blows and shines. The willows and willows by the lake naturally hang down, and the pink lotus flowers in full bloom in the water are also extremely beautiful. The flower landscape in the park has been carefully designed and arranged, and flowers bloom all year round, bringing beautiful enjoyment to tourists.
The lake in the park is like a huge mirror, calm and clear. The lake reflects the sky and trees. Huaxia Mingting District is more like a real forest. It is overgrown with trees, and bird chirps are constantly heard from it. Sometimes you can see various birds flying among the trees. There are also waterfalls and streams in Huaxia Mingting District, and the pavilions hidden in this grove look even more fresh and refined.
The pavilions and pavilions in the park are models of the perfect integration of humanities and nature. Ancient buildings such as Taoran Pavilion and Compassion Nunnery still stand tall after the baptism of time. Their flying eaves, arched arches, carved beams and painted buildings demonstrate the superb skills of ancient architectural art. These buildings complement the surrounding natural landscape.
In order to maintain a beautiful environment, the park management department has implemented a series of effective measures.
Taoranting Park's environmental protection policies mainly include the following aspects: First, garbage classification and treatment. Waste classification has been implemented in Taoranting Park and classified garbage cans have been set up to reduce environmental pollution. At the same time, the greening work of the park has also been strengthened to maintain the ecological balance within the park. The second is water resources management. The park regularly cleans and treats water bodies. Finally, there is environmental education and publicity.
In addition, the park has also actively promoted ecological restoration projects, increased the wetland area, attracted many birds to inhabit, and further enriched the park's ecological diversity.
With its beautiful environment, Taoranting Park has become an ideal place for citizens to relax, entertain and get close to nature. It is believed that with the joint efforts of the park management department and the majority of tourists, the environment of Taoranting Park will get better and better, adding more green and vitality to the city.

Yanqing, Beijing: Ecological management paints a beautiful picture
fanxin
Yanqing District, Beijing's ecological conservation area, shoulders the important task of protecting the capital's ecological barrier. However, the former Yanqing District faced many severe environmental challenges. Soil erosion made the land barren, and sandstorms made the sky no longer blue.
In order to reverse this situation, the Yanqing District Government has unswervingly implemented a series of effective governance measures. In terms of greening, large-scale afforestation projects have been carried out, and countless cadres and the masses have worked together to dig pits and fill in the barren mountains to plant saplings. Year after year, the mountains and forests in Yanqing District are now completely stained, and the forest coverage rate has increased.
In terms of water resources protection, the management and supervision of rivers have been strengthened, and direct drainage of sewage has been strictly eliminated. Establish multiple advanced sewage treatment facilities to ensure that every drop of sewage is properly treated. The once turbid river water is now crystal clear and rippling with blue waves. The fish and shrimp in the water are swimming happily, and the water and grass on the shore are swaying in the wind.
The green transformation of agriculture has achieved remarkable results. Yanqing District actively promotes ecological agricultural technology, reduces the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and vigorously develops organic agriculture. Farmers no longer simply pursue yield, but pay more attention to the sustainable use of land and the quality of agricultural products. The vast farmland exudes the fragrance of soil and the fragrance of crops. In terms of energy utilization, vigorously develop clean energy such as wind energy and solar energy, which not only reduces dependence on traditional energy sources and reduces carbon emissions, but also makes the sky bluer and the air fresher.
Today's Yanqing, the environment has undergone tremendous changes. In spring, flowers all over the mountains and fields compete for beauty; in summer, the trees are shaded and the breeze blows on the face; in autumn, the fiery red maple leaves are pleasant; in winter, the mountains are covered with snow. The air quality has been significantly improved, and the fresh air makes people feel relaxed and relaxed. The improvement of the ecological environment has also driven the vigorous development of tourism, attracting many tourists to come for sightseeing and vacations.
The results of environmental governance in Yanqing District not only allow local residents to enjoy good ecological well-being, but also set an example for the construction of ecological civilization in Beijing City and even the whole country. In the future, Yanqing District will continue to adhere to the green development path and continue to write new chapters in ecological livability.

Marine ecological and environmental protection is urgent
Zhang Sixian
On July 11, 2024, the State Council Information Office held a press conference and released the white paper "Marine Ecological and Environmental Protection in China." The white paper systematically expounds China's marine ecological and environmental protection concepts, practices and achievements. The white paper shows that the effectiveness of my country's beautiful bay construction continues to be demonstrated, and the ecological environment quality of China's coastal waters continues to improve. In 2023, the proportion of excellent water area in coastal waters will reach 85%, an increase of 13.7 percentage points from 2018, achieving "six consecutive increases";24 typical marine ecosystems have eliminated the "unhealthy" status since 2021, striving to 2025. Beautiful bays will be basically built in 283 bays.
The ocean is the origin of life on earth, carries all things, and plays a vital role in the survival and development of mankind. Once upon a time, due to human overfishing and discharge of waste into the ocean, the marine environment was seriously polluted and marine biodiversity declined sharply, posing a threat to the quality of life and life safety of coastal people. Faced with these situations, mankind must realize the heavy cost of marine environmental pollution. Protecting the marine environment means protecting mankind itself.
For a better life for mankind and a common future for all, it is urgent to protect the marine ecological environment.
