Waste activated carbon goes through a series of high-temperature thermal regeneration processes such as desorption, activation, cooling, screening, and packaging, and is "transformed" into recycled activated carbon products, starting a journey of recycling... Recently, the first activated carbon regeneration center in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province was successfully put into operation. The first phase can dispose of 25 tons of waste activated carbon per day, helping to improve quality and efficiency in the construction of a "waste-free city".
It is reported that the Wuxi City Activated Carbon Regeneration Center has been included in the "waste-free city" construction list project of Wuxi City and has received special fund support from the central air pollution prevention and control. After the second phase of the production line is expanded, the daily processing capacity can reach 30 tons.
In the future, the Activated Carbon Regeneration Center will assist more VOC-related companies to correctly regulate carbon use, improve the efficiency of industrial waste recycling and reuse, and establish a circular economic circle for hazardous waste disposal in Wuxi and surrounding areas.
The reporter learned that previously, companies used activated carbon to adsorb organic waste gas in the production process. The absorbed saturated waste activated carbon would be directly entrusted to a third-party company for incineration and disposal. This disposal method not only caused waste of resources, but also greatly increased carbon emissions. The commissioning of the activated carbon regeneration center can allow waste activated carbon to be regenerated and realize the recycling of resources, which not only avoids secondary pollution, but also reduces the operating costs of environmental protection facilities for enterprises. It produces both economic benefits and social benefits.
"The commissioning of the activated carbon regeneration center has achieved 'waste reuse' through a resource-based approach, filling the gap in Wuxi City in this field." Wu Di, Director of the Atmospheric Environment Division of the Wuxi City Ecological Environment Bureau, said that the goal of Wuxi City's gas control is to effectively improve the efficiency of VOCs control, make every effort to rectify ozone pollution, closely follow the pain points and difficulties in corporate volatile organic compound control, and innovate and plan the construction of "five major centers" for VOCs source control (namely, the Source Replacement Alliance Technical Service Center, the Activated Carbon Full-Process Supervision Service Center, the Combustion Method Technology and Equipment Research and Development Center, and the All-Waterborne Paint Spraying Center and solvent recycling center). At present, the Source Replacement Alliance Technical Service Center has basically achieved physical operation, and 12 demonstration sites for all-aqueous coating spraying centers have been built. As one of the "five major centers", the successful operation of the Activated Carbon Regeneration Center also marks Wuxi has taken a solid step in the field of solid and hazardous waste resource utilization.
