The grid-connected operation of the Yueqing Bay Shared Energy Storage Power Station is expected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 320,000 tons per year

Recently, the first batch of new energy storage demonstration projects in Zhejiang Province during the "14th Five-Year Plan"-the Yueqing Bay Shared Energy Storage Power Station in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, was connected to the grid and put into operation. It is expected to increase clean energy consumption by 580 million kilowatt-hours and reduce carbon emissions by 321,000 tons every year, providing solid support for green, efficient and full consumption of new energy.

The Yueqing Bay Shared Energy Storage Power Station is located in the sea outside Wengle Reclamation in Yueqing City. It covers an area of about 30 acres and has a total investment of about 1.166 billion yuan. The total planned scale reaches 220 MW/440 MWh, and the first phase of the grid connection capacity is 52.8 MW/107.48 MWh. The relevant person in charge of the State Grid's Yueqing City Power Supply Company said that this power station is like a "super charging treasure" that can store 100,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity on a single "charge".

On the sea surface of Yueqing Bay, rows of white energy storage cabins shaped like containers have been integrated into the power grid and are operating stably. The Yueqing Bay Shared Energy Storage Power Station uses lithium iron phosphate battery technology and has a total of 21 battery cabinets installed. This power station is connected to the grid through a 220-kilovolt line, and simultaneously builds supporting projects such as 10-kilovolt booster station facilities and grid-connected lines. Electricity is transmitted from Sanyu Substation to the energy storage power station transformer device through the line, which is subjected to step-down treatment. It is then transported to the energy storage battery compartment for "charging".

In order to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and realize social benefits as soon as possible, the State Grid Yueqing City Power Supply Company actively connects and provides full-process, one-stop, nannies services for the project construction. The total length of the transmission line is 2.2 kilometers, including 0.8 kilometers of double-loop overhead and 1.4 kilometers of double-loop cables.

It is reported that as one of the new energy storage scenario demonstration projects in the "Top Ten Landmark Projects" of the new power system of Zhejiang Province Electric Power Company-the core component of the Pan-Yueqing Bay Multiple Energy Storage Development and Construction Demonstration Project, the Yueqing Bay Shared Energy Storage Power Station has the ability to release electricity at peak load times and store electricity at low load times. It has various functions such as peak shaving, frequency modulation, and black start. Through the operation mode of peak-cutting and valley filling, the Yueqing Bay Shared Energy Storage Power Station can significantly reduce the amount of abandoned light and optimize power output, thereby improving the operating efficiency and economic benefits of the entire photovoltaic system, providing a guarantee for the continuous supply of green energy.

In recent years, with the transformation of the energy structure and the implementation of the "double carbon" strategy, the proportion of clean energy with the theme of wind power and photovoltaic hydropower connected to the power grid has gradually increased. In response to the operation problems of local power grids and resource layout, State Grid Yueqing City Power Supply Company took the "new energy + energy storage" quota policy as the entry point and joined forces with the People's Government of Yueqing City to actively promote the Yueqing Bay Shared Energy Storage Power Station Project and the Hengtai Photovoltaic Fishery and Light Complementary Project, and successfully built a centralized "photovoltaic + Energy Storage" application scenario. Among them, the Hengtai Photovoltaic Fishery and Light Complementary Project is scheduled to be put into operation next month, with a first phase capacity of 270 MW and a final phase capacity of 550 MW.

According to reports, by then, the installed capacity of energy storage in Yueqing City will reach 80,000 kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 160%, and the installed capacity of new energy will reach 850,000 kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 50%, comprehensively improving the city's total installed new energy capacity and power grid flexibility. It is estimated that by 2027, the scale of new energy storage in Yueqing City will expand to 300,000 kilowatts, further promoting the transformation of the local energy structure to green and low-carbon, accelerating the integrated development of the electrical industry and new energy industry, and helping achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
