According to reports, the country's first large-scale industrial plant for biological aviation fuel built by Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. has an annual designed processing capacity of 100,000 tons. Through the extraction and transformation of waste cooking oil, biodiesel, biological aviation fuel, naphtha and other products are obtained, realizing Full utilization of resources and "waste-free" production. Compared with traditional petroleum-based aviation kerosene, bio-jet fuel can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50% during its entire life cycle, and can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 80,000 tons per year, equivalent to the annual carbon emissions of nearly 50,000 economical cars.

According to media reports, as early as 2011, Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Corporation built a 20,000-ton/year biological aviation fuel industry demonstration plant. On June 5, 2024, the domestic large aircraft C919 filled with biojet fuel independently developed by China Petrochemical landed smoothly at Dongying Airport in Shandong Province after more than an hour of flight; on the same day, my country's independently developed ARJ21 aircraft successfully completed the test flight of biojet fuel at Shanghai Pudong Airport. This is the first time that a domestic commercial aircraft has been filled with biological aviation fuel, and the biological aviation fuel it has filled is processed from Zhenhai Refining and Refining.
