Petroleum China led the formulation of the first green and low-carbon international standard for the oil and gas industry and released

On October 22, the "Guidelines for Green Manufacturing and Low-Carbon Emissions of Oil and Gas Field Equipment Materials"(referred to as the "Guidelines") formulated under the leadership of China Petroleum Engineering Materials Research Institute was officially released. This is the first green and low-carbon international standard proposed and led by China Petroleum in the oil and gas industry. It is of great significance to promoting global energy low-carbon transformation and high-quality development.

Oil and gas field equipment and materials are the cornerstone of the development of the oil and gas industry and low-carbon energy. Its green manufacturing faces deep-seated problems such as imperfect manufacturing level evaluation tools and standard systems, and many isolated islands of product design, manufacturing, and operation and maintenance data.

In order to help reduce carbon emissions and reduce emissions in the entire oil and gas industry chain, in 2019, with the strong support of the Ministry of Petroleum Science and Technology Management of China and other departments, the Engineering Materials Research Institute relied on my country's fruitful scientific research and standard innovation results in the field of green manufacturing and remanufacturing. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) submitted a standard proposal for the Guidelines. The proposal was approved in May 2023. Subsequently, through the cooperation of experts and scholars from more than 10 countries including China, Canada, Russia, the United States, and France, the development of this international standard was successfully completed.

The "Guide" regulates the definitions and connotations of green manufacturing and low-carbon emissions for the first time, and unifies the language framework for the industry. At the same time, it clarifies the green and low-carbon attributes of oil and gas field equipment and materials, as well as the content and requirements in terms of design, manufacturing, remanufacturing, evaluation, management, etc., provides guiding suggestions and typical examples for the green and low-carbon transformation of the oil and gas industry, and builds oil and gas The standardization system framework for the green and low-carbon development of field equipment and materials provides direction guidance and reference for the subsequent development of relevant standardization work and the formulation of international standards.
