It took 5 years, invested 470 million yuan, implemented 10 air pollution control projects, and made active efforts to protect the clear water, Jinchang and blue sky.
Walking into the production command center of the flash furnace workshop of the Jinchuan Nickel-Cobalt-Nickel Smelter, I saw staff directing and dispatching the matching treatment of converter flue gas in front of the big screen. Through the large screen, you can clearly see the comparison chart of flue gas emissions before and after the implementation of the nickel smelter acid making and environmental gathering system dust collection facilities optimization and upgrading project, indicating that this environmental protection renovation project is playing a positive role after it is put into use.
Shao Zhichao, deputy director of the sodium sulfite workshop of Jinchuan Ni-Cobalt-Nickel Smelter, told reporters that the nickel smelter's acid making and environmental collection system dust collection facilities optimization and renovation project is a key environmental protection project of Jinchuan Group in 2023, with an investment of nearly 100 million yuan. Completed and put into operation in August this year, effectively improving the efficiency of tail gas mist and dust removal, enhancing the flue gas diffusion effect, and optimizing the quality of the air environment. At present, the tail gas particulate matter and sulfur dioxide indicators have all reached the national special emission standards.
As an industry with high energy consumption and high pollution, the traditional metallurgical industry is a major carbon emitter. In order to reduce pollutant emissions from the source, Jinchang City launched a three-year special campaign to protect blue skies and accelerated the implementation of the Jinchuan Group's emission limit upgrading project. In accordance with the idea of "emission reduction at source, differentiated management, comprehensive utilization, and final zero emission", Jinchuan Group continues to strengthen the resource disposal of wastewater, waste gas, and waste residue on the basis of the original environmental protection management results, and continues to improve nickel and copper smelting. In-depth treatment of flue gas will improve the capabilities of nickel and copper smelting flue gas treatment systems. The Jinchuan Nickel-Cobalt-Nickel Smelter has focused on implementing 10 air pollution control projects such as pyrotechnic unorganized flue gas and low-concentration flue gas. This year, Jinchuan Nickel-Cobalt-Nickel Smelter invested 200 million yuan to transform the converter process of the flash furnace system and implemented a new bottom-blown smelting furnace to replace the converter process. After the project is completed, it is expected to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions from the source by 11.22 tons/year and reduce particulate matter emissions by 136.04 tons/year.
