"Now everyone's awareness of garbage classification has increased. The classification of kitchen waste is much refined than before, and the collection and transportation efficiency is much higher." Master Liu said that the number of collection and transportation points has also been increased. In the past one or two years, many small restaurants have also been included in the collection and transportation system. They have to visit at least 30 points in one trip and at least twice a day.
On the coastal beach of Shitang, Pengjie Town, Luqiao District, there is a "big eater" called Taizhou Urban Organic Matter Recycling Center (hereinafter referred to as the Circulation Center). The kitchen waste transported here every day can be cleared daily. At about 8 o'clock in the morning that day, Master Liu drove a collection truck full of kitchen waste here. Under the guidance of the staff, after the whole vehicle was weighed, the garbage in the truck was slowly poured into the receiving bin and then entered the processing system.
According to reports, the recycling center kitchen waste treatment system mainly consists of pretreatment, anaerobic digestion, biogas power generation, sewage treatment, deodorization and intelligent control systems. After anaerobic fermentation, the water and part of the organic solid residue produced after pretreatment can be used for power generation and heat supply. The oil can be made into industrial-grade mixed oil. Some solid slurry can enter the biological conversion system and become Organic fertilizers and protein feeds. Yu Xia, deputy general manager of Taizhou Fuxing Ecological Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., which is responsible for project operation and management, told reporters: "Almost all the ingredients of kitchen waste have been 'eaten dry and squeezed out.'"
Taizhou, which is creating a food capital, produces a large amount of kitchen waste every day from restaurants to canteens. Without proper treatment methods, it may become a source of pollution or simply be used as swill feed. In 2019, the circulation center came into being. Enterprises and institutions in Taizhou City, school canteens, large-scale complexes, and hotels took the lead in becoming the first batch of contracted units for the collection and transportation of kitchen waste. Subsequently, towns (streets) and medium-sized catering industries quickly joined the ranks of collection and transportation. In the following years, many small restaurants also became contract units. Up to now, Taizhou Fuxing Ecological Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. has signed collection and transportation agreements with nearly 10,000 catering shops.
"We are a licensed enterprise authorized by the Taizhou City government to collect, transport and dispose of kitchen waste and waste oil in Taizhou City. At present, the kitchen waste collection and transportation system has basically achieved full coverage of the urban area." Yu Xia said that the company has equipped 27 special collection and transportation trucks for kitchen waste and 20 gutter oil collection and transportation trucks, and has set up 21 special collection and transportation lines, forming a grid collection and transportation system of "points, lines, and connections into areas".
Due to the large volume of collection and transportation workload, the company launched the "Chain Control Intelligent Transportation" supervision platform in a timely manner, installed supervision equipment on the collection and transportation trucks, adopted the collection and transportation model of "fixed stores and fixed barrels", and posted a designated exclusive QR code on the oil traps of major collection and transportation units. "This enables 24-hour GPS positioning of collection and transportation vehicles and real-time visual supervision of key scenarios. It also enables traceability and efficient resource allocation of the entire process of kitchen waste collection and transportation." Yu Xia said.
It is understood that the recycling center, as a key project included in the first batch of provincial-level demonstration pilot cities for comprehensive utilization and harmless disposal of kitchen waste resources in Taizhou City, not only realizes resource and efficient utilization of kitchen waste, but also makes harmless use. "Our pretreatment workshops, anaerobic fermentation tanks, desliming workshops and sewage ponds are all equipped with a complete negative pressure collection and deodorization system, so that the taste of kitchen waste cannot be dispersed." At the same time, the circulation center is also equipped with a laboratory to conduct daily testing on samples taken from each production link to ensure compliance with environmental protection standards. The sewage produced during the treatment process also has a strict and complete treatment system, and the sewage after layer of treatment meets the standards. In addition, impurities such as plastics and fibers sorted out at the front end and biogas residue produced by anaerobic fermentation are shipped out to the incineration power plant for collaborative disposal.
"Through a series of scientific treatment methods, we can effectively realize the reduction, recycling and harmlessness of kitchen waste to the greatest extent possible." Yu Xia said that at present, the circulation center has achieved a full-capacity operation of 230 tons of kitchen waste per day and an average of 20 tons of waste oil per day. The peak volume of collection and transportation can reach 280 tons/day. "After the entire reconstruction and expansion project is completed, 300 tons of kitchen waste can be swallowed per day and 30 tons of waste oil can be processed per day. The current designed production capacity of the biogas power generation system can reach nearly 12.5 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity per year, and the equivalent planting of about 560,000 trees, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 10,000 tons/year, opening up the green circular economy industrial chain." Yu Xia said.
