Recently, the National Administration for Disease Control and Prevention, together with 13 relevant departments including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, issued the "National Action Plan for Healthy Adaptation to Climate Change (2024-2030)"(hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") to improve climate change Health adaptation level and promote the construction of a healthy China and a beautiful China.

In recent years, as climate change, which is characterized by global warming, has further intensified, extreme weather and climate events such as high-temperature heat waves, floods, low-temperature cold waves, and typhoons have become more and more intense. Human survival, life and health are being greatly challenged. Climate change has become the most complex public health issue facing mankind in the 21st century.

The "Plan" proposes that by 2025, we will improve and improve the multi-departmental collaboration mechanism for climate change and health work, and build a policy and standard framework related to climate change and health. Strengthen the construction of climate-sensitive disease surveillance systems and build climate change and health assessment indicators. Complete the first round of assessments of climate change health risks, vulnerability and adaptability, and form a list of major scientific needs for climate change healthy adaptation.

Strengthen the construction of green and low-carbon medical and health institutions. Incorporate green and low-carbon construction standards that save land, electricity, water and materials into the planning and construction plans of new, renovated and expanded medical and health institutions to reduce carbon emissions during infrastructure construction. Encourage the use of technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and big data to build energy resource management platforms for medical and health institutions to explore and track relevant energy consumption.

Create a friendly environment for the whole society to adapt healthily to climate change. Strengthen publicity, education and guidance on climate change and health. Formulate different types and different groups of people's education strategies to promote climate change and health education into rural areas, communities, places, and schools. Educate, guide and promote the public to practice a simple, moderate, green, low-carbon, civilized and healthy lifestyle, master self-rescue and mutual rescue measures to deal with extreme weather and climate events, and improve the public's level of climate change and health literacy. Carry out pilot actions to adapt to climate change healthily to cities, villages, communities, and key places (hospitals, industrial enterprises, child care institutions, schools and elderly care institutions, etc.) to summarize replicable adaptation models.
