"Taking May this year as an example, our company used a total of 290 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, of which 190 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity was settled. Every time you purchase 1000 kilowatt-hours of green electricity, you can get a green certificate. Having a green certificate will enhance the export competitiveness of your products." Staff at Hongyuan New Materials (Baotou) Co., Ltd. said that the crystal silicon photovoltaic industry consumes a lot of electricity, and green electricity trading has effectively met the company's energy-saving goals.
Green electricity refers to electricity with zero or close to zero carbon dioxide emissions in the process of producing electricity. Green electricity trading reflects the green value of electricity commodities through market-oriented means. Since my country officially launched the green electricity trading pilot in 2021, green electricity trading in many places has achieved leapfrog growth and market activity has continued to increase. In February this year, after the "Inner Mongolia Power Market Green Power Trading Pilot Plan" was approved, Mengxi Power Grid became the third green power trading pilot after State Grid and China Southern Power Grid. This year is the first time that the Inner Mongolia Power Multilateral Trading Market has organized green power trading.
"After receiving the notice of Inner Mongolia's first green electricity transaction, our company immediately applied and purchased through the Inner Mongolia Electric Power Trading Center platform, and successfully purchased 1.36 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity at a price of about 16 cents per kilowatt-hour." Xu Nan, director of the facilities department of Baotou Meike Silicon Energy Co., Ltd., said that the company's annual production electricity consumption is about 2.01 billion kilowatt-hours. This year, the proportion of green electricity has increased to 67%, which is equivalent to reducing coal consumption by 193,000 tons and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 500,000 tons.
As an energy region, Inner Mongolia is rich in wind and solar energy resources, and renewable energy projects such as wind power and photovoltaics are blooming everywhere. In the first half of this year, it became the first province in the country with a total installed capacity of new energy exceeding 100 million kilowatts, providing sufficient material foundation for the production and trading of green electricity.
Data provided by the Energy Bureau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region shows that as of the end of July, the cumulative settlement electricity of green electricity transactions in the Inner Mongolia Power Multilateral Market was 44.26 billion kilowatt-hours, ranking among the top in the country. At present, a total of 630 new energy power generation companies on the power generation side of Mengxi Power Grid directly participate in green power transactions, and a total of 1158 power consumption companies such as strategic emerging industries and traditional advantageous industries on the power consumption side actively participate in green power transactions. Through green electricity trading, companies can directly purchase green electricity and obtain corresponding green electricity consumption certification, which promotes the widespread use of green energy and enhances the company's green image.
The relevant person in charge of the Energy Bureau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region said that since the beginning of this year, Inner Mongolia's green electricity trading has achieved a leap from scratch. Green electricity trading has significantly supported key industries, effectively meeting the needs of various business entities for green electricity trading services, and promoting the green and high-quality development of the district's economy.
