The reporter learned from the 2024 Global Low-Carbon Metallurgical Innovation Forum being held in Shanghai that the latest data from China Iron and Steel Industry Association shows that as of August this year, more than 140 steel companies in my country have completed the implementation of ultra-low emission transformation. The association also recently released the China Low Carbon Emission Steel Group Standard.

The China Low Carbon Emission Steel Group Standards released this time set evaluation indicators for different carbon reduction processes for upstream and downstream enterprises in the steel industry, which can achieve greenhouse gas emission accounting and greenhouse gas emission levels (carbon efficiency levels) evaluation to accelerate the promotion and application of processes with outstanding carbon reduction effects.

Liu Yinghao, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Environmental Product Declaration Platform of China Steel Association:When we formulated this standard, we called on steel companies with a domestic production capacity of nearly 330 million tons to join and test this standard. This should also be the largest criterion for basic testing of global data volume. Our steel has improved a little, which may bring a very big improvement to the entire value chain.

my country's first batch of low-carbon emission steel products released

At the 2024 Global Low-Carbon Metallurgical Innovation Forum, my country's first batch of low-carbon emission steel products were also released.

Gao Jianbing, deputy general manager of China Baowu Group:This time we have released a total of 6 low-carbon brand steels. The highly efficient and environmentally friendly oriented silicon steel we released this time will be able to reduce carbon emissions for the country by 75 million tons every year in the transmission and transformation of high-voltage power. It will help us upstream and downstream customers come together to carry out green and low-carbon transformation.

With the domestic and foreign steel market demand and technological progress, it is estimated that by 2030, the development and use of high-grade steel materials will promote downstream industries to reduce carbon emissions by 1.35 billion tons.
