He Kebin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the Institute of Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University, said in his speech that climate change is a challenge that all mankind must face together, and the power industry, as the main source of carbon emissions, its transformation is important for achieving the goal of carbon neutrality. It has a decisive position. He pointed out that breakthrough technological changes are an important cornerstone supporting this transformation. The "Route Outlook Report" provides valuable decision-making reference and theoretical basis for the construction of new power systems in my country.

The "Route Outlook Report" pointed out that China's current construction goals of new power systems are to build a low-carbon power system that adapts to large-scale and high-proportion new energy sources, build a safe power system that ensures energy supply and demand and prevents risks, and build an efficient energy economy. An economical power system supplied.
Zhang Ning, deputy director of the New Power System Research Center of the Institute of Carbon Neutralization at Tsinghua University and associate professor hired by the Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering, said that 2021 - 2030 will be China's carbon peak and platform period, and wind power and photovoltaic electricity will account for the ratio. Rapid increase to more than 30%; coal-fired power capacity has steadily increased, and power generation has increased slightly; power systems mainly composed of coal, hydropower, and gas-electricity provide a high degree of flexibility.
"2030 - 2050 will be China's rapid emission reduction period." Zhang Ning introduced that during this period, the proportion of wind and solar electricity will reach more than 60%; coal power capacity will peak and transform to a supporting regulatory power supply positioning through "capacity reduction"; energy storage is expected to increase rapidly in demand-side flexibility. The increase will supplement the system's flexibility needs.
Zhang Ning said: "2050 - 2060 is China's carbon neutrality period, and the proportion of wind and light will reach more than 70%. Flexible resources such as gas and electricity, biomass power, energy storage, and demand side will be used in the power system. Play an important role in balancing electricity."
The "Route Outlook Report" pointed out that the new power system will be expanded from the four elements of "source and network load storage" to six elements of "source and network load carbon storage". "The future power system will focus on clean and low-carbon power supply and use fossil energy as ballast stone to promote the interconnection and interaction of large power grids and distributed systems, realize diversification, flexibility and activity-based terminal energy use, and build a cross-temporal multi-integrated shared energy storage system." Zhang Ning said.
