Leading the way in upgrading domestic oil quality

On November 20 and 29, 2021, Yanshan Petrochemical took the lead in producing the first batch of No. 92 gasoline and No. 95 gasoline that met the "Beijing 6B" indicator, playing a positive role in improving air quality and helping the "Green Winter Olympics".

Over the years, Yanshan Petrochemical has mastered a number of core key technologies represented by gasoline adsorption and desulfurization through technological digestion, absorption and re-innovation. It has continuously developed and produced environmentally friendly clean oil products that meet the needs of Beijing, and has been leading the way in upgrading oil quality.

From taking the lead in realizing unleaded gasoline in China in 1997, to comprehensively producing clean oil products that meet Euro 2, Euro 3 and Euro 4 emission standards, to producing Beijing City gasoline and diesel whose oil quality has reached the international leading level in 2012 and 2017. Yanshan Petrochemical has led the cleanliness of motor gasoline and diesel to six levels. The sulfur content has not exceeded 800ppm specified in the vehicle unleaded gasoline standard GB17930 -1999 at the beginning of this century. Drop below the current 10ppm.

The "Beijing 6B" oil standard is an upgraded version of the "Beijing 6" standard. Compared with the "Beijing 6" standard, after using the "Beijing 6B" standard oil products, particulate matter emissions from gasoline vehicles can be reduced by 20% to 30%, hydrocarbons can be reduced by 10% to 15%, and carbon monoxide can be reduced by 6% to 10%; Diesel vehicle particulate matter emissions can be reduced by 20%, and nitrogen oxides can be reduced by 10%, which is of great significance for reducing vehicle exhaust pollutants and improving air quality.

Over the past 25 years, Yanshan Petrochemical has achieved "seven consecutive leaps" in oil quality upgrades, making positive contributions to promoting the cleanliness of vehicle fuels in China and injecting a steady stream of green power into the development of the capital.

A gorgeous turn from traditional petrochemical enterprises to clean new energy enterprises

From February 4 to 20 and March 4 to 13, 2022, the Beijing Winter Olympics and Beijing Winter Paralympics were held one after another, becoming the focus of worldwide attention. In order to implement the concept of "green hosting of the Olympics", in addition to using hydrogen to ignite the main torch, the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics also achieved the world's first large-scale demonstration investment of hydrogen energy vehicles during the event to reduce pollutant emissions. According to data provided by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, there are 816 hydrogen energy vehicles used for event support at this Winter Olympics, of which more than 85% of hydrogen energy vehicles in the Beijing competition area are provided by Yanshan Petrochemical.

As an official strategic cooperation project between Sinopec and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics, Yanshan Petrochemical's hydrogen new energy installation began construction in October 2019, will be transferred to China on January 2, 2020, and will be realized on March 27 of that year. Driving successfully. The device has a design scale of 2000 standard cubic meters per hour. It adopts a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process and uses the by-product hydrogen of Yanshan Petrochemical to purify and produce hydrogen that can meet the standard for fuel cells, with a purity of 99.999%. Compared with general hydrogen purification technology, pressure swing adsorption separation technology does not use chemical reagents, does not require heating and cooling operations, has low energy consumption, is environmentally friendly, and can truly achieve green and clean production. On January 31, 2022, on the eve of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Yanshan Petrochemical successfully passed the "Standards and Evaluation for Low-Carbon Hydrogen, Clean Hydrogen and Renewable Hydrogen", becoming the first company in China to obtain clean hydrogen certification.

In May 2020, Yanshan Petrochemical organized and held a hydrogen new energy industry technology exchange meeting to discuss the development and application prospects of hydrogen new energy industrialization with relevant persons from well-known universities, automobile companies, and scientific research institutions in the capital.

In July 2020, Yanshan Petrochemical signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with BAIC Group. The two parties agreed to jointly promote the promotion and application of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Beijing City.

In 2021, Yanshan Petrochemical will set a precedent for the demonstration application of hydrogen fuel heavy trucks in Beijing City and Sinopec. At the same time, it will create the largest demonstration scenario for hydrogen fuel forklift filling application in China. The online analysis of hydrogen quality has achieved domestic leadership and has built the first set of 30 standard cubic meters/hour PEM hydrogen production pilot plant in China's petrochemical system, committed to tackling the core technology of green hydrogen preparation.

On September 9, 2021, the four hydrogen refueling stations planned and constructed by Sinopec in the Zhangjiakou and Yanqing competition areas of the Beijing Winter Olympics were officially put into operation, and all hydrogen supply was borne by Yanshan Petrochemical.

On May 26, 2023, at the Zhongguancun Forum, leaders of Yanshan Petrochemical delivered a keynote speech entitled "Hydrogen" Devoted to Green Development ", introducing Yanshan Petrochemical's overall plan and implementation approach to building a technology-leading hydrogen energy development leading enterprise.

In March 2024, Yanshan Petrochemical's 10,000-hour hydrogen purification facility improvement project was launched.

So far, Yanshan Petrochemical has successfully provided fuel cell hydrogen to 13 users in Beijing and surrounding areas, and has established business cooperation relationships with all 8 hydrogen refueling stations in Beijing that require external hydrogen extraction. Since the first battery hydrogen vehicle was shipped from the factory on December 16, 2020, Yanshan Petrochemical has supplied more than 2800 tons of fuel cell hydrogen to the market, contributing to meeting urban hydrogen demand.

Innovate industrial water management models to conserve regional ecology

In 2015, Yanshan Petrochemical vigorously implemented the "Clear Water and Blue Sky" project and completed the sewage treatment standard upgrading project using international advanced treatment technologies. After the renovation, the COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) index of Yanshan Petrochemical's external drainage was successfully reduced from 60 mg/liter to below 30 mg/liter, and the ammonia nitrogen content increased from 5 mg/liter to below 1.5 mg/liter, reaching the world's most advanced petrochemical sewage discharge control level. In recent years, Yanshan Petrochemical has adopted measures such as source management, process control and terminal purification to reduce the COD index of external drainage to below 20 mg/liter, reaching the international leading level.

In 2017, Yanshan Petrochemical adopted the internationally popular "natural treatment wetland" design concept to introduce purified water that meets the standards into artificial wetlands for advanced treatment and landscape utilization. Niukouyu Reservoir "transformed" into the first "industrial sewage treatment standards discharge + wetland natural ecological restoration system" wetland park.

In August 2018, the Niukouyu Wetland case was promoted at the World Water Week Forum in Stockholm, Sweden. In June 2023, the second phase of Yanshan Petrochemical Niukouyu Wetland upgrading and reconstruction project will be fully completed. Actively create "waste-free enterprises" to achieve intrinsic environmental protection

As a pilot A-level demonstration enterprise of Sinopec's "Waste Free Group", Yanshan Petrochemical has always adhered to the bottom-line thinking, followed the principles of reduction, recycling and harmlessness of industrial "three wastes", accelerated the construction of "waste free enterprises", and continued to promote Safe, green and high-quality development of enterprises.

The management of VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) is a key factor in testing the environmental protection level of petrochemical enterprises, and the RTO furnace (Regenerative Thermal Incinerator) is the nemesis of VOCs. When VOCs in the industrial exhaust gas of petrochemical enterprises pass through the RTO furnace, they undergo heating degradation and purification of corresponding catalysts, and are transformed into gases that are harmless to the external environment to achieve emission standards. This is an important means for the purification and treatment of industrial exhaust gas of petrochemical enterprises.

On July 5, 2024, the RTO furnace hidden danger management project of Yanshan Petrochemical Organic Chemical Plant completed the construction and entered the joint debugging stage before commissioning. The project mainly includes the construction of a new exhaust gas heat storage device, an RTO furnace, six fans, a gas detection system and supporting transmission pipes and electrical instrument automatic control system, raw material transmission and dust removal and purification system, exhaust gas collection and pressurization transmission system and Related supporting infrastructure for collecting EVA from organic chemical plants The design scale of waste gas and tail gas generated by (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer), VAC (vinyl acetate) and VAE (vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion) units is 60,000 standard cubic meters per hour. After the completion of the RTO furnace hidden danger management project, Yanshan Petrochemical Organic Chemical Plant's industrial waste gas emission standards will be more reliably guaranteed.

At Yanshan Petrochemical, the configuration of RTO furnaces covers all production units involving VOCs emissions. Not only major production units such as oil refining, ethylene, synthetic resin, synthetic rubber, and organic chemicals are equipped with RTO furnaces, but even circulating water fields and sewage purification systems have also been built to prevent a strand of exhaust gas from being discharged directly into the atmosphere without purification.

In order to strengthen the control of VOCs in the production system, Yanshan Petrochemical has built a complete VOCs grid monitoring system, established a total of 46 VOCs monitoring points, forming a VOCs monitoring network covering the production plant area and surrounding communities. Through the VOCs information management and control platform, you can grasp the VOCs emission status and change trends in the work area, factory boundary and surrounding communities in real time. The measured data are disclosed to the public and subject to government and public supervision. Since 2013, Yanshan Petrochemical has carried out LDAR (Leak Detection and Restoration Project) testing on a regular basis. A third-party organization has carried out all-weather leak testing on the production plant area to promptly discover leakage points in the production system and organize repairs to ensure Yanshan Petrochemical Industrial exhaust emissions are stable and up to standard. Under strong technical support and strict control from all over the company, from 2018 to 2023, Yanshan Petrochemical has achieved environmental protection management performance of reducing VOCs emissions by 10% for six consecutive years.

In recent years, Yanshan Petrochemical has made great efforts in hazardous waste treatment. We will make every effort to promote clean production, successfully complete the task of clean transformation of the power boiler system, achieve cleaner fuel in use in boilers, and effectively reduce the production of general industrial solid waste. Strengthen the internal comprehensive utilization of hazardous solid waste resources such as waste lubricating oil and waste catalysts, which reduces the amount of hazardous waste generated while increasing economic benefits. The implementation of the magnetic separation and comprehensive utilization project of spent catalytic cracking catalysts has reduced the generation of spent catalysts.

On December 8, 2023, the comprehensive utilization project of blue kingfisher resources dedicated to hazardous waste disposal will be fully completed. As a key environmental protection project that is widely concerned by the industry, the blue kingfisher resource comprehensive utilization device can receive and dispose of 48,000 tons of hazardous waste every year, achieving reduction, harmless and resource treatment. Its hazardous waste treatment technology has reached the domestic leading level. Smoke emission indicators are better than the requirements of national standards, landmarks and European and American standards. The completion and commissioning of the project has accelerated the construction process of Yanshan Petrochemical's "waste-free enterprise" and has a demonstration and leading role in promoting the integration of two environmental protection standards in the city and the chemical industry.
