PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Branch recently announced that the Hudson Oilfield, located in the heart of the Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang, has achieved zero fossil energy consumption.
Zero fossil energy consumption means that no fossil energy is used, but through wind and solar power generation, solar thermal and other systems, clean energy is replaced by fossil energy to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions. The completion of zero-fossil energy-consuming oil fields is of great significance to promoting energy transformation, improving energy security, promoting economic development and enhancing international competitiveness.
The Hudson Oilfield is located in Shaya County, in the heart of the Taklimakan Desert. In 2020, the Hudson Oilfield consumed 20,400 tons of standard coal and emitted 68,300 tons of carbon dioxide. It is a veritable energy consumer.
In response to this situation, the Hade Oil and Gas Management Zone of Tarim Oilfield has launched a "combination punch" to achieve zero fossil energy consumption. On the one hand, Hudson Oilfield shut down a million-ton joint station and a 100,000 cubic meters natural gas plant, reduced 90 power-consuming equipment and gas equipment, and stopped 4 gas heating furnaces and 59 electromagnetic heaters; In addition, Hudson Oilfield built three sets of 1100 kilowatt heat pump units, using the waste heat of oilfield produced water to replace gas heating furnaces for heating and heating in living parks and stations, reducing natural gas consumption by 1.038 million cubic meters per year. On the other hand, Hudson Oilfield vigorously implements green energy alternative measures. Through measures such as installing photothermal storage heating furnaces and building a distributed photovoltaic power station with an annual power generation of 20.4 million kilowatt-hours, it fully electrifies production operations and achieves zero gas consumption and zero oil consumption on the production site.
Liu Liangyu, Secretary of the Party Branch and Deputy Director of the Hadesi Joint Station in the Hadesi Oil and Gas Management Area of PetroChina Tarim Oilfield, said that the construction of a million-ton zero-fossil energy-consuming oil field is only the beginning. According to the three-step strategy of "zero-fossil energy-consuming oil fields first, and then zero-carbon oil fields", the ultimate goal is to build a zero-carbon oil field.
In the next step, Hadé Oil and Gas Management Zone will increase the substitution of photoelectricity and photothermal furnaces, and plan to build a centralized photovoltaic power station for grid-connected power generation and distributed photovoltaics to achieve 100% green electricity substitution in the joint station. At the same time, we will sort out the carbon emissions emitted during the entire process of oil and gas production and the gray electricity carbon emissions that cannot be completely replaced, make full use of green power certificates and forestry carbon sinks to supplement and offset, and strive to build PetroChina's first million-ton "zero-carbon joint station"."Zero carbon oil fields" play a leading and demonstration role in accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation of my country's oil extraction industry.
