China's first national green development demonstration zone-China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City has set new construction goals to explore paths and provide a model for accelerating the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development across the country.
The National Development and Reform Commission recently issued the "Implementation Plan for the Construction of the National Green Development Demonstration Zone of China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (2024-2035)", which determined that the construction of the eco-city should focus on green, low-carbon and high-quality development and focus on high-value-added sub-industries. The national green development demonstration zone construction goal characterized by a world-class business environment has proposed 20 main indicators in three aspects, and the main indicators of green development will reach the international leading level by 2035.
The "Plan" also clarified 29 specific work tasks in 6 aspects and proposed organizational and implementation safeguard measures.
The new construction goals mainly have innovation highlights in four aspects: accelerating the cultivation of green industries, strengthening the supply of scientific and technological innovation, focusing on solving key issues, and focusing on improving systems and mechanisms.
Analysts said that this is closely related to the deepening of the reform of the ecological civilization system proposed by the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
The eco-city is one of the strategic cooperation projects between the governments of China and Singapore and started construction in 2008.

Zhu Liyang, president of the China Circular Economy Association, said that the new construction goals reflect the Chinese government's high requirements for the future development of the eco-city and demonstrate the eco-city's national position and international vision in green development.
