"Wanbang Heavy Industry" and DNV teamed up to explore the establishment of an ESG management system for the global ship repair industry

Recently, Wanbang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd., a "Green Ship Repair Demonstration Enterprise in China's Ship Repair Industry", established a development strategy with DNV, a world-renowned classification society, and officially launched in-depth cooperation between the two parties. The two parties will jointly explore the application and development path of the ESG system in the global ship repair industry.

ESG, which stands for Environmental, Social and Governance, is a framework for assessing the sustainability of business operations and its impact on social values from three dimensions: environment, society and governance. This system aims to measure the sustainable development performance of enterprises and organizations. It not only focuses on the enterprise's economic performance, but also emphasizes its emphasis on environmental responsibility and social contribution, as well as the effectiveness of corporate governance.

"DNV Classification Society has a history of 100 years in China and began exploring the field of digital carbon management many years ago. This cooperation with DNV hopes to provide a model for the construction and operation of ESG systems for ship repair companies around the world by establishing a complete set of ESG management systems and evaluation standards." As a leader and supplier of green ship repair and ship modification services,"Wanbang Heavy Industry" started the operation of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) management system as early as the beginning of 2013, practicing ship maintenance with green concepts and long-term perspectives. Sustainable development strategy continues to promote green technology and management creation, and has invested more than 300 million yuan in green ship repair equipment manufacturing research and development and process technology transformation. It is the "Green Ship Repair Demonstration Enterprise in China's Ship Repair Industry" awarded by the China Shipbuilding Engineering Society. It is the first ship repair enterprise listed as China's national "green factory" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The company is the first in the country to fully apply new ultra-high pressure water jet rust removal technology, and has successfully developed and used new green equipment such as intelligent coating robots and intelligent aerial work platforms, filling gaps in many industries. At the same time, the gradual replacement of green energy such as photovoltaics has effectively reduced carbon emissions and production environmental pollution during ship maintenance.

This year, the company has continued to innovate robot solutions for ultra-high pressure water jet rust removal technology in various ship types, and top manufacturers in the United Nations have launched intelligent load-bearing equipment for high-altitude operations for ship painting, and systematically optimized the design of anti-corrosion spraying robots. The "Future Ship Repair Wanbang Silicon Valley" and application production line built by the company is currently the first special technology center for digital and AI technology electromechanical maintenance in the world's ship repair industry. Since it was put into use in February this year, it has achieved innovation, efficiency, and high-quality working methods improve the working standards of mechanization, automation, digitalization and intelligence.
