The Yellow River originates in Qinghai, meets the Bohai Sea in Kenli, Shandong, and flows through the nine cities of Qilu, flowing endlessly.

Resource advantages such as a long coastline and vast sea area provide Shandong with unique conditions for developing its marine economy and expanding new development space.

As a major province in energy production and consumption, Shandong is based on its resource endowment and industrial advantages, continuously stimulates the vitality of technological innovation, comprehensively promotes the construction of a new energy system, and the pace of energy green and low-carbon transformation continues to accelerate.

Recently, the reporter followed the Central Media Youth Editor and Journalist Education Office to enhance the "Four Forces" educational practice activity sponsored by China Journalists Association and the National Three Education Office to enter the land of Qilu, capturing the green driving force of energy transformation from a beam of light and a gust of wind.

wind from the sea

Starting towards the Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone, in the blue sea outside the car window, white "big windmills" rotate at a constant speed following the sea breeze, injecting a steady stream of green power into the land of Qilu.

Walking into the Offshore Wind Power Equipment Industrial Park of Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone, I saw a busy workshop in Shandong Jinlei New Energy Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd. Large CNC machine tools are roaring, and workers are busy testing wind turbine parts.

▲ In the Offshore Wind Power Equipment Industrial Park of Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone, the workshop of Shandong Jinlei New Energy Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd. is busy.

"We mainly produce 5-30 MW high-end wind power core components such as spindles, hubs, bases, and connected bearing blocks." Liu Fengwei, head of the comprehensive department of Shandong Jinlei New Energy Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd., said that its customers are mainly Siemens, GE, Goldwind Technology, Vestas, Vision Energy, Shanghai Electric, China Haizhang and other top wind power machine manufacturing companies, the leading product wind power spindle has a global market share of more than 35%, ranking first in the world.

In a corner of the workshop, a huge fan hub is particularly eye-catching.

"That is the hub of an 18-megawatt wind turbine," Liu Fengwei said."Its wind wheel has a diameter of 260 meters and is as high as a 50-story building when assembled."

In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the level of intelligent production, Jinlei has achieved high-efficiency and high-precision manufacturing with large-scale advanced equipment, and has used digital production processes and refined management measures such as CNC processing, robot spraying, ERP management and control, and Siemens operating systems., It has greatly improved the process precision and product quality, and comprehensively improved the level of automation, digitalization and intelligence in the R & D and production of core components of offshore wind power.

On the General Terminal of Guangli Port Area, several large red portal cranes and crawler cranes stand tall, complementing the rows of giant white wind turbine blades and towers on the yard not far away.

Li Shengwei, general manager of Dongying City Guangli Lingang Industrial Park Co., Ltd., told reporters that with the comprehensive launch of the Dongying Offshore Wind Power Equipment Industrial Park, in order to meet the needs of large-scale wind power equipment for sea assembly, Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone relies on the district-owned state-owned investment platform-Dongying Guangli Port Development and Construction Co., Ltd., to implement the second phase of the Guangli Port Area General Terminal project.

"The project plans to have a total investment of 700 million yuan. After completion, the annual designed throughput is 650,000 tons. It is equipped with 150 sets of wind turbine units. It is equipped with large-sized special cranes to serve the loading and launching of offshore wind power equipment and meet the construction needs of the Bozhong Offshore Wind Power Base." Li Shengwei said.

Light grows from the sea

Looking down from the sky, an "arrow" paved with blue photovoltaic panels is inlaid in the sea. The different blue intertwines to create a different landscape.

This is the National Energy Group's Guohua HG14 offshore photovoltaic 1 million kilowatt project. It is a major project and energy storage demonstration project in Shandong Province in 2024. It is also the first megawatt offshore photovoltaic project to be implemented in China.

As the global climate change problem becomes increasingly serious, countries are seeking low-carbon and sustainable energy solutions. Against this background, my country, as the world's largest energy consumer, actively deploys clean energy and promotes the transformation and upgrading of the energy structure. The Guohua HG14 project located in the eastern coastal area of my country came into being. Using sea space resources to develop offshore photovoltaic power generation is a concrete practice in response to the national sustainable development strategy.

The implementation of this project marks a solid step in the strategic transformation of my country's photovoltaic industry "from land to sea", and is a milestone for promoting the optimization of regional energy structure, intensive and economical use of shallow sea and tidal flat resources, and the development of the clean energy industry.

"The project is planned to complete grid-connected power generation in December 2024." Zhang Zecheng, the project manager, told reporters,"After completion, the project is expected to generate 1.78 billion kilowatt-hours of annual power, save 594,500 tons of standard coal and reduce 1.441 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions."

Zhang Zecheng introduced that the project is being constructed in the sea area, fully considering the impact on the marine ecological environment, and through reasonable planning and construction measures-the "fishing and light integration" development method, photovoltaic power generation units are built above the sea area that has been confirmed for aquaculture., which not only ensures the function of fishery farming, but also realizes the power generation utilization of clean energy. At the same time, the project has also strengthened the monitoring and evaluation of the marine ecological environment, and through continuous random inspections and early warning, it has ensured that the operation of the project does not disturb or affect the stability and balance of the marine ecology.

Jiang Zhiwei, Minister of Investment Promotion in Guangli Lingang of Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone, told reporters that in recent years, Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone has continued to leverage its resource endowment advantages, complied with national development trends, and promoted the development and growth of new energy industries such as wind power and photovoltaics.

"The Economic Development Zone has built 1 wind power generation project using uniform and stable wind conditions, built 5 centralized photovoltaic power generation projects relying on the advantages of solar energy resources with long duration and strong illumination, and also built 2 supporting energy storage power stations for photovoltaic power stations."

Jiang Zhiwei said that with the completion and commissioning of the offshore wind power industrial park project, important equipment such as high-power wind turbines, high-intensity spindles, gearboxes, reducers, blades, and cables have been self-produced and exported, laying a foundation for promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of energy. A solid and strong industrial foundation.

Hydrogen gathers in Hong Kong

Walking into Qingdao Port, the port of Shandong, you can see vivid pictures of large ships frequently approaching, endless traffic, and busy progress everywhere between the sea and the sky.

This is the fifth largest port in the world and the second largest foreign trade port in China. While high-quality development, Qingdao Port has always implemented the concept of green and sustainable development, anchored the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", played the role of a port hub, and used its own green development to help low-carbon transformation of upstream and downstream industrial chains.

▲ On the automated terminal of Qingdao Port, Shandong Port, containers are lightly grabbed and accurately stacked, and automatic guided vehicles shuttle back and forth in an orderly manner.

In August 2024, Shandong Port Qingdao Port's onshore power supply completed 1.18 million kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 262%, and the monthly power supply exceeded the 1 million kilowatt-hours mark for the first time.

Qingdao Port has always been actively exploring various ways to promote and apply onshore power, one of which is to enable container ships to use "black technology" for high-voltage onshore power.

The relevant person in charge of the terminal told reporters that they have independently developed high-voltage shore power self-propelled robots to promote continuous power supply without stopping in the hot standby state of shore power equipment.

"On August 7, we successfully completed the onshore power connection task of three container ships, the 'COSCO Shipping Argentina', the 'Zhonggu Zhuhai' and the 'Yongchun', and received 80834 kilowatt-hours of electricity, setting a record for high-voltage onshore power connection day and night. In August, the automated terminal's onshore power supply capacity was 470,000 kilowatt-hours, accounting for 40% of the total onshore power supply capacity in Hong Kong, a record high." The above-mentioned person in charge said.

The Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have always attached great importance to the construction of a strong marine province and green and low-carbon transformation and development. In 2021, Shandong Province organized and held a special working meeting on the "Hydrogen into Thousands of Thousands" science and technology demonstration project to deploy the "Hydrogen into Thousands of Thousands" project, focusing on providing an industrial model and exploring development paths for the development of hydrogen energy across the country.

Expanding the application of hydrogen energy and accelerating energy substitution are the general trend. Building hydrogen energy ports and creating green port and shipping are the proper meaning of high-quality development.

In the five years since its establishment, Shandong Port has actively fulfilled its green and low-carbon mission, promoted port energy transformation, and innovatively created four "hydrogen energy port" achievements including the country's first port low-carbon clean energy supply system, providing "China Plan" for the green development of the global port and shipping industry.

In terms of specific measures, Shandong Port relies on Qingdao Port to build the "three major systems" of port hydrogen supply system, efficient hydrogenation system, and hydrogen safety management and control system, creating an integrated application demonstration of the entire industrial chain of hydrogen energy in the port, multi-scenario application demonstration, and diversified application demonstration "three demonstrations", and build "three major platforms" of hydrogen energy industry-university-research innovation development platform, hydrogen energy trade hub platform, and hydrogen energy port public service platform.

Go into Shandong and understand Shandong. We have seen that Shandong is unswervingly promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, and new energy has achieved leapfrog development from small to large, from weak to strong, and from catch-up to leading. In the future, Shandong will have a more "greener" energy structure, a more "stronger" supply resilience, and a more "new" industrial system. An energy pattern with complementary energy such as "wind, light, fire, nuclear, storage, and hydrogen" is gradually being constructed and formed.
