The first CCER forestry carbon sequestration project in Shaanxi developed by the Northwest Institute was signed

Recently, the first CCER forestry carbon sequestration project in Shaanxi Province developed by the Northwest Institute of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration was successfully signed and traded in Shangluo City. The carbon dioxide emission reduction in this transaction is 100,000 tons, and the contract amount is 4.2 million yuan.

The carbon sink project covers the artificial afforestation project in Shangluo City from 2012 to 2023, covering an area of 785,000 mu, with an estimated carbon sink of about 530,000 tons in the first phase and an expected income of about 20 million yuan. The 100,000 tons of the first National Certified Voluntary Emission Reduction (CCER) forestry carbon sink in this pre-sale transaction marks the official unlocking of "carbon trading" by Shangluo. According to the latest "Greenhouse Gas Voluntary Emission Reduction Project Methodology Afforestation Carbon Sequestration", the project is expected to produce about 7.8148 million tons of carbon dioxide emission reduction and 350 million yuan of carbon sink income within 40 years of the inclusion period, and about 195,000 tons of carbon dioxide emission reduction and 8.775 million yuan of carbon sink income in the annual carbon dioxide emission reduction.

In the next step, the Northwest Institute will continue to give full play to the advantages of technical support, dig deep into the value of forest "carbon pool", promote the transformation of forestry ecological value, and help Shangluo City build a "carbon neutral" demonstration city in the province. The first is to focus on the "Plan for Deepening the Reform of the Collective Forest Tenure System", continue to broaden the transformation path of the "Two Mountains", explore the methodology of local forestry carbon inclusiveness, establish and improve the Shangluo forestry carbon sink measurement and monitoring system, promote rural revitalization, and promote farmers' income. The second is to take the forest chief system as the starting point, coordinate the protection of forest resources and the "carbon neutrality" offset mechanism, organically combine the occupation of forest land, illegal logging and ecological protection and carbon replenishment mechanism, encourage large-scale activities and public purchases, and open up a greater inclusive space for forestry carbon sinks. The third is to build the "Pilot Demonstration Project for Carbon Neutrality of Water Conservation and Biodiversity Conservation and Restoration in the Middle Section of the Qinling Mountains", promote key construction such as land greening with high quality, and put forward the construction layout and greenhouse gas emission inventory of "dual" projects under the background of "carbon neutrality" of forests and grasslands, so as to lay the foundation for "carbon neutrality" trading under the market mechanism, drive carbon emission enterprises to actively participate in ecological construction, and build a demonstration highland of "carbon neutrality" for forests and grasslands in Shaanxi.
