Promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional energy, vigorously developing green energy, and making the country's important energy base bigger and stronger are the top priorities for Inner Mongolia's development. Since the beginning of this year, Inner Mongolia has coordinated to promote the development of the new energy equipment manufacturing industry, accelerate the construction of new power systems, and drive the green and low-carbon transformation and development of the energy industry. The development of new energy and related industries in the region has shown a good trend of steady progress, progress while improving, and momentum while advancing. As of the end of May, Inner Mongolia's total installed capacity of new energy reached 101.58 million kilowatts, becoming the first province in the country to have a total installed capacity of new energy exceeding 100 million kilowatts.

It is reported that from January to May 2024, investment in major new energy projects in Inner Mongolia maintained rapid growth, with completed investment of 49.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30%. The new installed capacity of new energy in the region was 8.35 million kilowatts, nearly 1.3 times that of the same period last year., ranking first in the country. As of the end of May, the total installed capacity of new energy has reached 101.58 million kilowatts, accounting for 45% of the total installed power capacity, an increase of 7.3 percentage points year-on-year. The annual green electricity can be generated by about 230 billion kilowatt-hours, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions. More than 190 million tons. It is expected that by the end of this year, Inner Mongolia's installed capacity of new energy will exceed 130 million kilowatts, making it the first in the country to achieve the target of new energy installed capacity exceeding the target of thermal power installed capacity.

In order to continue to promote chain extension and strengthening, Inner Mongolia has strengthened investment promotion and industry-demand docking, successfully attracted a number of wind power equipment, hydrogen energy equipment, and energy storage equipment manufacturing companies, and organized power generation companies and equipment manufacturing companies to hold multiple industry-demand docking meetings, promoting supply and demand cooperation, and significantly enhancing the ability of new energy equipment manufacturing to help economic development. From January to May this year, the district's wind, solar and hydrogen storage equipment manufacturing projects completed an investment of 64.94 billion yuan, 2.4 times that of the same period last year, and completed 65% of the annual planned investment. Up to now, the district has formed a wind power installation supporting capacity of 5 million kilowatts, a photovoltaic module supply capacity of 30.5 million kilowatts, a hydrogen energy equipment production capacity of 450 units, and an energy storage equipment production capacity of 2 million kilowatt hours. The entire industrial chain of wind, wind and hydrogen storage equipment manufacturing has basically been formed, with an output value of more than 1.2 trillion yuan.

Inner Mongolia has also used new energy to accelerate the formation of new productive forces. Promote the implementation of new energy projects for full spontaneous self-use of new energy and promote the green transformation of enterprises. For example, the Huaneng Yimin open-pit coal mine's full spontaneous self-use project uses the slopes of the open-pit coal mine to build distributed photovoltaics. It is estimated that the average annual power generation capacity will be 32.12 million kilowatt-hours, which can save standard coal is about 9815 tons, which effectively reduces the cost of mining electricity for enterprises. Vigorously promote the development of the green hydrogen industry. The district has approved 40 integrated wind, solar and hydrogen production projects with a green hydrogen production capacity of 900,000 tons/year. Application scenarios cover green hydrogen to green alcohol, green ammonia, coupled coal chemical industry, hydrogen energy transportation, etc. In terms of multiple aspects, after all completion, the scale of new energy can be consumed by more than 22 million kilowatts. Compared with coal hydrogen production, carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by more than 15 million tons.

In addition, Inner Mongolia has accelerated the development of new energy storage and made overall plans for the development layout of new energy storage on the grid side and the power supply side. The district has put into operation a new energy storage installed capacity of 4.04 million kilowatts. Recently, a special action for the construction of new energy storage has been launched. It is planned to add more than 20 million kilowatts of new energy storage within two years. After all completion, it will strongly support the large-scale development and utilization of new energy sources, greatly enhance power grid regulation capabilities, ensure stable supply of green power, and help the region's economy achieve green transformation.
