On July 13, at the China Lantern Museum, a colorful peacock with 30,000 feathers and flashing colorful light as the lights change made the audience linger. This peacock is one of the "Sparrow Spirit" lamp groups.

It is understood that the "Sparrow Spirit" light group is one of the most watched individual light groups at the 30th Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival. In mid-May this year, Zigong City, Sichuan Province donated it to the China Lantern Museum. In the museum's boutique hall, it is displayed to the public as a permanent exhibit.

After the May Day holiday, the Zigong China Lantern World was temporarily closed. Different from the past, the light groups of the 30th Lantern Festival were effectively utilized after the exhibition. In the past, almost all of the colorful lights displayed at the Zigong Lantern Festival were disposed of as solid waste after being displayed. Nowadays, the vast majority of light groups enter schools, ancient towns, museums, etc. and continue to "shine".

In order to build a "waste-free city", in recent years, Zigong has integrated green, low-carbon and environmentally friendly exhibition concepts into the lantern exhibition. Take the 30th Lantern Festival as an example. The Lantern Festival has incorporated environmental protection concepts from the very beginning of its design, turning waste materials into treasure, and using old objects such as waste medicine bottles, wine bottles, and CDs.

For example, the "Horse Stepping on the Swallow" lamp set uses 21 kinds of waste materials such as iron sheet, metal pipes, tires, and leather for exterior decoration; the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Chinese Dragon" lamp set uses 200,000 waste mineral water bottles, which are hand-bundled and bonded; the "Chuangxiang Beauty Lantern Collection" swimming dragon lamp set is made of 3000 acrylic pigment bottles.

New technology makes colorful lights "move" and "light". The "Salt Crystal Tower" light group uses AR technology to reduce the use of disposable building materials built by traditional light groups. Visitors only need to take photos and scan the light groups through their mobile phone Mini programs, and they can see the effect of the golden dragon circling upwards on their mobile phones. Laser water curtain movies, logic integrated controllers, CNC decoders, etc. are widely used in lantern festivals to reduce material consumption and carbon emissions by combining virtual and real.

At the same time, the light sources of the Zigong Lantern Festival lamp sets have also been replaced by the original high-energy-consuming incandescent bulbs to LED energy-saving lamps, and the energy consumption has been reduced year by year. Compared with the previous Lantern Festival, the electricity consumption of the 30th Lantern Festival decreased by 38%. The fifth "Wild Light" China Lantern Exhibition is powered entirely by hydroprocessed vegetable oil derived from renewable raw materials.

In order to make the "waste-free" lantern festival go further and more vitality, Zigong has carried out in-depth industry-university-research cooperation. Seek new breakthroughs in the research and development and application of new materials for lanterns, energy conservation and consumption reduction technologies, and the "degradable" and "recyclable" of the main materials for lanterns. In June this year, Zigong issued a special rectification action plan for air pollution prevention and control in the simulated dinosaur manufacturing industry, putting forward higher requirements for the city's 29 colorful lights, replacement of clean raw and auxiliary materials, airtight production workshops, and collection and treatment of exhaust gas.
