Turning fly ash into a hazardous waste "solid waste scavenger" that protects the city

"In recent years, the number of ships entering and leaving the port of Ningbo Zhoushan has been increasing, and with it, the requirements for the capacity of ships to receive, transfer and dispose of pollutants have also become higher and higher. The relevant person in charge of Guoju Street told reporters.

As the only comprehensive environmental protection terminal in Ningbo Zhoushan Port for the reception and treatment of waste oil and ship garbage, Ningbo Haijing Environmental Protection Terminal has been committed to taking the responsibility of "scavenger" since it was put into use in 2021 and protecting the "high value" of the ocean with practical actions.

Behind the dock area, the white "big guys" are particularly eye-catching, and 18 storage tanks of different sizes are arranged in an orderly manner, with a tank farm capacity of 40,000 cubic meters.

According to Huang Qinghe, general manager of Ningbo Haijing Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., at present, the company has been equipped with 260,000 tons/year of oily sewage comprehensive utilization device, 18,000 tons/year of waste emulsion treatment facilities, 45,000 tons/year of oily pollution disposal project, 20,000 tons/year of waste activated carbon regeneration device and other environmental protection projects, as well as power supply, heating and gas supply and other public facilities.

Making the best use of things, turning waste into treasure, and helping green and low-carbon development with recycling is the mission of Haijing Environmental Protection Technology.

"With the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the per capita garbage output is also increasing year by year, and incineration has become the main means of domestic waste disposal. Huang Qinghe said that compared with landfills, incineration saves a lot of land resources, but it will inevitably lead to the problem of safe disposal of incineration fly ash.

The so-called fly ash refers to the waste produced by the incineration of general solid waste, which is classified as hazardous waste. It is reported that at present, Ningbo produces about 110,000 tons of fly ash every year. In this context, the 50,000 tons/year domestic waste incineration fly ash resource utilization project came into being and will be officially put into operation this year.

"The project adopts a one-time construction method, mainly involving fly ash storage unit, fly ash thermal decomposition unit, fly ash water elution and dechlorination unit, water washing wastewater treatment unit, MVR evaporation and crystallization unit, brick making unit and public works unit. Huang Qinghe said that after the completion of the project, the hazardous waste of fly ash can be "turned into a treasure", and effectively open up the "last mile" of the construction of a "zero-waste city".

To seize new opportunities in the environmental protection industry and develop new quality productivity, Haijing Environmental Protection Technology has pressed the "acceleration button".

"At present, there has been a new development in the treatment technology of volatile organic compounds VOCs, and the city's first activated carbon regeneration center has been put into operation. Huang Qinghe introduced that this technology can greatly reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of the whole life cycle of activated carbon, which is of great practical significance for pollution reduction and carbon reduction.
