Jiangxi has its first pilot unit for voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction

A few days ago, the Jiangxi Province Department of Ecology and Environment officially replied, filing the pilot work of developing a voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction project by Jiangxi Province Transportation Investment Group. This is the first pilot filing document after the Jiangxi Province Department of Ecology and Environment launched the pilot work on the development of voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects, marking that Jiangxi Province Transportation Investment Group has become the province's first key state-owned enterprise to develop voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects.

In order to encourage voluntary emission reduction of greenhouse gases, promote the comprehensive green transformation of Jiangxi's economy and society, and achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the Jiangxi Province Department of Ecology and Environment actively carries out pilot work on the development of voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects. The goal is to By 2030, the province's voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction resources will be fully developed, and the greenhouse gas emission reduction of pilot projects will reach more than 10 million tons.

Jiangxi Province Transportation Investment Group took an active role. During the solicitation stage of the pilot document, it expressed its willingness to pilot the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment and other relevant departments. It submitted a pilot application as soon as possible after the pilot document was officially issued, submitted a pilot implementation plan, proactively undertook pilot tasks, and actively carried out pilot work on the development of voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects.

As a key state-owned enterprise in Jiangxi Province, Jiangxi Province Transportation Investment Group has many advantages and conditions in carrying out pilot development of voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects, including having more than 6000 kilometers of highway resource advantages, rich resource advantages in new energy industry and project development funding advantages. It can complete pilot project development and voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction public welfare transfer and voluntary consumption as required.

In the next step, Jiangxi Province Transportation Investment Group will strengthen organizational guarantees in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment. Its subsidiary Jiangxi Communications and Investment New Energy Group will take the lead in the pilot work, establish and improve the development system for voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects and voluntary emission reduction consumption mechanism, and promote Jiangxi's dual control of carbon emissions.
