Recently, MCC Saidi Group Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as MCC Saidi) and Zhongtian Iron and Steel Group (Nantong) Co., Ltd. signed an EPC project contract for three "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnaces. Prior to this, MCC Saidi signed two EPC project contracts with Hebei Zongheng Group Fengnan Iron and Steel for two "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnaces. This marks that the "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnace technology independently developed by MCC Saidi has been tested in market-oriented application, providing a new path for large-scale blast furnaces to achieve economic stability and carbon reduction.

It is reported that 90% of my country's steel industry is a long process of blast furnaces and converters, and reducing blast furnace carbon consumption has always been a worldwide problem that plagues the domestic and foreign steel industries. MCC Saidi has carried out research in the field of low-carbon smelting processes for many years and successfully built a hydrocarbon blast furnace technical route that suits my country's national conditions and has both carbon reduction and economy.

At the 14th China Steel Annual Conference held on October 25, 2023, MCC Saidi released the efficient reduction of "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnace technology and the world's first demonstration application project. This technology makes full use of the existing surplus gas resources of steel mills, improves gas utilization efficiency by recycling the reducing gas in the gas, and reduces the solid carbon consumption of the blast furnace from the source. The "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnace is also equipped with many new technologies such as hydrocarbon coupled enhanced reduction, gas IPS power regulation and deep decarbonization, coordinated injection of gas and pulverized coal, and intelligent control of furnace conditions, which ensure the stable and smooth operation of the blast furnace and achieve significant economic benefits and social ecological benefits.

In May 2023, China Metallurgical Saidi's high-efficiency reduction "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnace technology was put into operation in two 2000-cubic meter blast furnaces of Fengnan Steel of Zongheng Group. Over the past year, the blast furnaces have been running smoothly, and the average gas replacement ratio is 0.5 kg per cubic meter. Above, the annual carbon dioxide emission reduction is about 400,000 tons, which is about 5% to 10% more stable compared with the continuous and stable carbon reduction of domestic blast furnaces of the same level. The main technical indicators have reached the international leading level. A new low-carbon smelting process that significantly reduces carbon in large-scale blast furnaces is about to enter the stage of industrial application.

So far, MCC Saidi's "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnace technology has been extended to seven 2000 cubic meter blast furnaces. Relevant persons in charge of MCC Saidi told reporters that they will continue to focus on low-carbon smelting of blast furnaces and further develop by-product gas in steel companies. Efficient utilization technology and core equipment to create a Super "3R" hydrocarbon blast furnace to achieve the goal of significantly reducing carbon and "near-zero" carbon emissions from the blast furnace.
