The reporter learned from the China National Nuclear Corporation that on March 13, the dome belt of Tianwan Nuclear Power Unit 8 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province was successfully hoisted. So far, the two nuclear power units of Tianwan Nuclear Power No. 7 and No. 8, a national key energy project, have all entered the installation and commissioning stage.

On the day of hoisting, as the wind speed measurement meets the standard, the 2000-ton crawler crane slowly lifts the ball belt with a lifting weight of 473.03 tons from the ground to a height of 50.5 meters, and after a series of precise actions such as hooking, clockwise rotation, walking, lifting, counterclock-rotating, walking, clock-time rotation, etc., the final smooth hook is located on the containment cylinder at an altitude of 44.6 meters, and the hoisting accuracy is controlled at the millimeter level.

The dome of Tianwan Nuclear Power Unit 8 is divided into two parts, the ball belt and the ball crown, which are hoisted in two parts, and the installation equipment of different specifications is distributed in the dome. The steel-lined dome is a hemispherical structure with a diameter of 44 meters, with a total height of 22 meters, and the ball belt is a ring belt structure, with a diameter of 36.522 meters at the upper mouth, 44 meters at the bottom and a height of 12.269 meters.

In order to ensure that the dome ball belt hoisting is foolproof, the builder formed a project team, systematically planned, the overall layout, and precision cooperation, continuously carried out construction technology and construction method innovation, and vigorously promoted the modular construction of steel bars, automatic welding technology, etc., to provide a strong guarantee for the smooth construction of Tianwan Nuclear Power Units 7 and 8.

It is understood that the Tianwan nuclear power base is the world's largest nuclear power base with a total installed capacity under construction and operation, with a total of more than 410 billion kilowatt hours of safe power generation from six units, which can be used by more than 100 million Chinese households for 1.6 years. As a key national energy project, Tianwan Nuclear Power Units 7 and 8 shoulder the important task of optimizing the national energy structure. The two units are expected to be commissioned in 2026 and 2027 respectively. After all eight units of Tianwan Nuclear Power are completed and put into operation, the total installed capacity is 9.13 million kilowatts, which can provide more than 70 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity per year, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 57.4 million tons per year, which will effectively promote the adjustment of the industrial structure and energy structure of Jiangsu Province and support the security of East China power grid and regional energy supply.
