At 8:08 a.m. on April 29, the dome of CGN Lufeng Nuclear Power Unit 5 was hoisted with high quality, marking the full transfer of the "Hualong No. 1" nuclear power unit from the civil construction stage to the equipment installation stage.

The dome is located at the top of the nuclear island and is an important part of ensuring the integrity and tightness of the reactor building. The dome of Lufeng Nuclear Power Unit 5 is composed of embedded parts, steel plates and angle steel welded on the outside, weighing 238.5 tons, with an area equivalent to the size of four standard basketball courts, and is the largest steel component hoisted in place as a whole in the construction of the steel lining of the nuclear island.

"When hoisting, we used a 1,600-ton crawler crane to lift the dome to a height of nearly 20 floors, and docked with the steel-lined cylinder of the nuclear island, which was only 6 millimeters, and the deviation needed to be controlled to the millimeter level. Shangguan Bin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CGN Lufeng Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., said. Through prerequisite combing, 3D laser scanning modeling, finite element analysis, real-time wind speed monitoring, hoisting simulation drills and other measures, the dome hoisting process is effectively ensured to be safe, orderly and controllable. In the end, it took 1 hour and 8 minutes to successfully hoist the dome of Lufeng Nuclear Power Unit 5 with high precision.

According to reports, on the basis of absorbing and learning from the experience of peer projects, the dome hoisting project team optimizes the dome assembly construction process with the idea of "tooling modularization and construction intensification", adopts advanced construction technologies such as dome assembly tire frame support system, laser intelligent tracking and efficient MAG automatic welding (molten polar active gas shielded arc welding), implements welding digitalization, BIM (building information model) visual management, and has a 100% pass rate of MAG welding RT (radiographic inspection) The overall size of the dome was accepted at one time, which greatly promoted the high-end, intelligent and green development of nuclear power construction.

It is reported that CGN Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Project plans to build 6 million kilowatt nuclear power units, with an annual power generation of about 52 billion kWh after completion, which can reduce standard coal consumption by 15.704 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 42.848 million tons per year, equivalent to afforestation of about 120,000 hectares.
