On March 28, China General Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CGN Power) held its 2023 annual results conference. The reporter learned from the press conference that in 2023, CGNPC's annual on-grid electricity will reach 214.146 billion kWh, and nearly 80% of WANO (World Association of Nuclear Operators) indicators will reach the world's advanced level.

In 2023, the 27 operating nuclear power units managed by CGN Power will maintain safe and stable operation, achieving 214.146 billion kWh of on-grid electricity, an increase of 7.95% year-on-year, and continue to provide safe, reliable and efficient clean power for the provinces and regions where they are located. By the end of 2023, the capacity of the operating and under construction units managed by CGN Power has reached 43.81 million kilowatts, and nearly 80% of the 27 operating nuclear power units have reached the world's advanced level in WANO.

On March 25, 2023, the first "Hualong No. 1" in western China, the No. 3 unit of CGN Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant, was officially put into operation for power generation, with safe and reliable operation in the first cycle and a capacity factor of 98.2%. In terms of new project approval, in 2023, CGNPC's Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Units 5 and 6, and Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Units 3 and 4 were approved by the state. Up to now, the 11 units under construction managed by CGN Power have all adopted the "Hualong No. 1" nuclear power technology, of which the No. 4 unit of Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant in Guangxi is expected to be put into operation in the first half of 2024.

As a clean and efficient energy source, nuclear power is of positive significance for improving the energy structure and achieving the "dual carbon" goal. In 2023, CGNPC's cumulative on-grid electricity consumption will be equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by about 64,672,200 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by about 176 million tons, which is equivalent to planting more than 480,000 hectares of forests.
