The Beijing City Library is an intellectual space supported by 144 "ginkgo trees", which not only has a stunning façade: the curtain wall composed of 276 ultra-high glass blocks is transparent and bright, bringing great visual enjoyment. It gives people a wonderful reading experience of "facing the mountains and under the trees". As one of the three major cultural buildings in the sub-center of Beijing, the library also starts with energy system planning, with the goal of 40% renewable energy and near-zero emissions, and realizes the implementation of green and clean energy. The composite energy system of ground source heat pump, supplemented by photovoltaic power generation, water cold and heat storage, gas boiler and chiller, can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 10,207 tons per year after it is put into operation. It is a veritable "zero-carbon" library in Beijing.
