A personal carbon ledger has been established for 6.7 million citizens! The mobilization meeting of the 2024 Beijing Green Life Season was held

On May 16, the mobilization meeting of the Beijing Green Life Season of the 2024 Beijing Energy Conservation Publicity Week series of activities was held at the China Science and Technology Museum.The conference was guided by the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, hosted by the Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center, and co-organized by the China Science and Technology Museum.

It is understood that in the past two years, the Beijing Green Life Season has successfully established a personal carbon account for 6.7 million citizens, and in 2023 alone, it will effectively drive citizens to practice green lifestyles 120 million times and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 53,800 tons.

The relevant person in charge of Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center said,The joint efforts of the government, enterprises and society are inseparable from the in-depth implementation of the Green Beijing Strategy, the high-quality promotion of the development of the capital in the new era, and the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, especially the green transformation of production and lifestyle. The project leader of the 2024 Beijing Green Life Season gave a detailed introduction to the characteristics, specific arrangements, and participation methods of this year's event.

Li Wei, Vice President of Bank of Beijing Sub-Center Branch, Zhou Xin, General Manager of Beijing Huiju, and Wang Jingyue, Director of Ele.me Public Affairs North China, respectively introduced the successful cases and experiences of participating in the Beijing Green Life Season by promoting the Green Development Forum of Beijing Urban Sub-center, organizing the "Let's Go Green" Sustainable Art Exhibition, and implementing "Small Meals" to reduce plastic and carbon emissions.Representatives of enterprises said that they should take the initiative to shoulder the social responsibility of enterprises and contribute to the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.

Lan Hong, professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Environment, Renmin University of Chinese, was invited to talk about the indispensable role of personal green behavior in the construction of ecological civilization with the title of "Personal Green and Low-Carbon Action and Beautiful China". Encourage the public to actively reduce carbon emissions, save resources and energy, support the development of green industries, and contribute to accelerating the pace of building a beautiful China through green travel, choosing new energy vehicles, saving electricity and water.

Finally, the Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center and the China Science and Technology Museum, together with representatives of various enterprises, jointly launched the initiative and signed the proposal for the transformation of green life, taking the lead in committing to consciously promote the concept of ecological civilization and build a beautiful Beijing.

It is reported that the 2024 Beijing Green Life Season will start in August, with a total of "eight sections" such as Green Office, Green Finance, Green Life, Green CD-ROM, Green Travel, Green Landscape, Green Carbon Credits, and Green Future, covering all aspects of life, such as food, housing, transportation, travel, shopping, and office.

The organizers said that they will further enhance the function and role of the "personal carbon ledger" of the Beijing Green Life Platform, attract more leading enterprises, enrich more application scenarios, and better serve citizens, enterprises and society around the theme of green and low-carbon.

In addition, this year's green life season will also rely on the characteristic science museum system of the China Science and Technology Museum, and cooperate with the China International New Energy Vehicle Industry Expo and other platforms to build a green science popularization and education base, provide a display stage for enterprises, enhance the value of green brands, and jointly promote the vigorous development of green and low-carbon undertakings.
