Sinochem New Network News Recently, Shell released the "Energy Transition Strategy 2024" report. In the report, Shell reaffirmed its ambition to become a net-zero energy company by 2050, but lowered its carbon emissions target by 2030.

Shell said it would reduce its carbon intensity by 15 to 20 percent by 2030 compared to 2016 levels, compared to a 20 percent reduction previously targeted. Last summer, Shell unveiled a new strategy to continue investing in oil and gas production and selectively investing in renewable energy solutions.

Andrew McKenzie, Chairman of Shell, said: "The goal of becoming a net-zero energy company by 2050 remains at the heart of our strategy. But Shell also believes that investment in oil and gas is necessary because oil and gas demand is expected to decline at a slower rate than the natural decline rate of 4% to 5% per year for the world's oil and gas fields. Shell CEO Wael Savan said it would be dangerous and irresponsible to reduce global oil and gas production, as the world still desperately needs these energy sources.
