In coastal areas, marine garbage collection is difficult and recycling rate is low, which is an unavoidable and important issue in marine environmental protection. On the occasion of the second National Ecology Day, how effective is the operation of the one-year-old "Ocean Partner" environmental cabin? Yesterday, the reporter visited this.
At 9 a.m., the sea breeze was blowing and the sun was blazing. Chen Fei, a villager from Qifeng Village, Chunhu Street, drove an electric tricycle to the "Ocean Partner" environmental protection cabin at the entrance of the village. I saw him operating skillfully on the screen of the environmental protection cabin. As the cabin door opened, he delivered them in one by one. "I took advantage of the fishing ban to sort out the used fishing gear, as well as the bottles and cans in my life. Now I am used to putting them here." Chen Fei said, a simple smile appeared on his dark face.
Chen Fei's "new habits" must start from the "big guy" in front of him. In July last year, the province's first village-level carbon credit "Ocean Partner" environmental protection cabin project was officially put into use in Qifeng Village, Chunhu Street. The environmental protection cabin covering an area of more than 600 square meters is built from several abandoned containers and is equipped with an intelligent recycling and storage cabin for marine waste. After fishermen deliver used fish baskets, broken fishing nets, broken floating balls and other items, they can get corresponding carbon points. After a year of accumulating, Chen Fei's carbon points have become quite "rich". He often uses his points to exchange for some daily necessities or for his children to exchange some snacks. Since the "Ocean Partner" environmental protection cabin was in operation for a year, more and more villagers have the "habit" of recycling garbage like Chen Fei.
Not far from the "Ocean Partner" environmental cabin, villager Zhou Nanhu was busy early in the morning, sorting out recycled fishing nets, stacking waste fish baskets neatly, weighing and classifying plastic bottles... As a fisherman, Zhou Nanhu has always been keen on marine environmental protection. Since the "Ocean Partner" environmental cabin was put into use, he has collected marine garbage to the best of his ability and is a "frequent visitor" to the environmental cabin. Now, he has a new identity-the stationmaster of Haisu Station. "Haisu Station is an extension of the 'Ocean Partners' environmental protection cabin. It is set up in villagers 'homes to facilitate surrounding villagers to put marine garbage nearby and also help cover the recycling system to each village." In this regard, Liu Yalan, a staff member of the environmental protection cabin of "Ocean Partners", explained.
In June this year, Zhou Nanhu renovated the open space in his yard, which was specially used to collect waste such as waste fish baskets, broken fishing nets, broken floating balls, and plastic bottles used by surrounding villagers, and sorted out the waste plastics and sent them to the factory. As a fisherman who has been fishing at sea for many years, Zhou Nanhu always has an "account" in his heart-a fishing boat abandons an average of 3000 fish baskets and 1 to 3 tons of fishing nets every year, producing 1 cubic meter of waste oil. Qifeng Village has various types. There are nearly 300 fishing boats and it is our responsibility to protect the marine environment.
"Since we rely on the sea to eat the sea, we must love and protect the sea. There is more and more garbage in the sea, and we fishermen have no livelihood. Recycling as much marine garbage as possible is to protect the sea on which we depend for survival." When talking about his "new job", Zhou Nanhu was very proud. He told reporters that now that garbage has a place to go, everyone is more and more enthusiastic to bring back and pick up marine garbage. As the first small sea tracing station in the village, Every day, nearby villagers spontaneously come to deliver all kinds of garbage. The small station can collect more than ten tons of marine garbage a month. At present, two small sea tracing stations have been set up in Chunhu Street, and an intelligent resource recycling station for the collection, treatment and transfer of marine debris has also been set up next to the village, jointly building a resource recovery system of "environmental protection cabin + sea tracing station + recycling station". Up to now, more than 1000 tons of marine waste have been recycled.
Where will "wandering" marine garbage go after it reaches its "new home"?
A piece of sunscreen clothing made of 100% PA6 recycled material can reduce carbon emissions by 1,515.9 grams, water consumption by 260.9 grams, and waste pollution by 234.6 grams; An electric toothbrush made of 100% rABS recycled material can reduce carbon emissions by 78 grams, water consumption by 624 grams, and waste pollution by 24 grams... The "Ocean Partner" environmental protection cabin displays clothing, backpacks, stationery boxes, and luggage. It is hard to imagine that these exquisite items are actually processed from marine waste plastics.
Walking into Ningbo Jianfeng New Materials Co., Ltd., outside the factory building, a large amount of marine garbage to be treated is neatly stacked; in the factory building, machines roar. On the conveyor belt, plastic waste is "reborn" through melting, filtering, and cutting, and transformed into recycled plastic particles of uniform size. These inconspicuous "grains of rice" are the raw materials for clothing, backpacks, cultural and creative products. "Through plastic recycling and recycling technology, we turn marine waste into treasure and make it into widely used recycled plastic particles to generate income. This part of the income covers the entire recycling system, logistics system and processing and research and development system, forming a sustainable development. Industrial chain." Ma Yiming, founder of the "Ocean Partner" environmental protection cabin and founder of Ningbo Jianfeng New Materials Co., Ltd., told reporters that at present, the company has developed a variety of marine plastic recycled particles and finished products such as rGPPS, rPC, and rABS, which are sold to domestic and European, American, Southeast Asia and other international markets, and by realizing high-value utilization of marine plastics, encouraging and feeding villagers to collect marine debris to increase income, a total of 1.5 million yuan has been achieved in benefiting fishing and benefiting farmers over the past year.
Solve the problem of "difficulty in recycling" by "increasing profits", solve the bottleneck of "sustainability" by "industrialization", and integrate management departments, enterprises, and the masses with "diversified participation". The "Ocean Partner" environmental protection cabin has been in operation for a year., a sustainable and endogenous marine debris management model is becoming increasingly mature and will be replicated and promoted on a larger scale.
In one year, the "Ocean Partner" environmental protection cabin not only "ate" thousands of tons of waste, but also turned marine garbage into a valuable resource. The successful operation of this project not only sets a model for us in marine environmental protection, but also demonstrates a bright future for us of green transformation and continuous innovation. Let us go hand in hand to protect this blue sea together!
